Hi, I couldn't join in with this thread because I'm still on VP20 & I have an AMD CPU with no integrated graphics,

Sorry for the stupid question, Why does turning on Legacy AVC allow Vegas to play that cat video, with it off the screen is black after the first couple of frames, What does turning on Legacy AVC actually do?

Nizar-AbuZayyad wrote on 8/25/2023, 3:40 PM

@Former user i have no idea but i wish i stayed on V20 lol im really suffering with V21
the problem is that i terminated my subscription on v20 and bought a new v21 post 365 subscription with new serials for 300$ and not satisfifed with that.

Turning on legacy AVC turns off GPU and uses compoundplug.dll decoder which is not GPU accelerated. so4compoundplug.dll is the GPU accelerated decoder. you can see which decoder is in use by using the properties option, right click on the media file within Vegas general tab.

@Nizar-AbuZayyad you may wish to see what Vegas finds when it detects your GPU, it stores this information in a log file which can be opened via notepad. Post the contents on the forum for both V20 and V21.

Avoid to use "good/half" for the preview. Better is preview/half or best/full - whatever works.

@Nizar-AbuZayyad Since you don't have an igpu, setting decoding hardware to off in the Vegas i/o prefs should fix it for you without much performance drop since that footage is so easy to decode.

@Former user I think the legacy boxes enable an Intel runtime library that was standard back in Vegas16. This is the 1st time I've heard it having a positive impact on any avc footage. There might be something odd in the metadata of the Canon clip that is confusing the Nvidia decoder but is ignored by other hardware and software decoders.

Former user wrote on 8/28/2023, 1:52 PM

@Howard-Vigorita Thanks, I've got a limited understanding of what it does, I need to read upon the difference between "compoundplug.dll decoder which is not GPU accelerated. so4compoundplug.dll is the GPU accelerated decoder" as @andyrpsmith mentioned, & as you say "enable an Intel runtime library", I've got an AMD CPU with no integrated graphics so I'm trying to understand how that affects my system. 👍

@Nizar-AbuZayyad

In Preferences, go to the Deprecated Features tab and select "enable the Quicktime plug-in".

PS: Remember to restart Vegas. You may also need to start a new project after enabling that feature. Then load the MOV into the new project.

Has anybody got a video sample using the Z-Depth has been use (tracking) that they could share?

Has anybody been able to use Smart Mask with text and NOT have the type appear transparent?

@Robert Johnston It's a Vegas GPU decoder fault, not only does it not display correctly it uses all your ram, and there's no way of getting your RAM back until you restart Vegas

@Nizar-AbuZayyad

My i9-13900K manages to squeeze out full 23.976 fps with your media on Best/Full without any GPU or iGPU geegaws.

I tried that as a test.

This is my normal configuration:

It works fine, too.

Nizar-AbuZayyad wrote on 8/29/2023, 5:54 AM

andyrpsmith wrote on 8/29/2023, 6:06 AM

You have an issue with Boris BCC+ causing the crash.

i deleted the mentioned file in the fault module and its working now.

would any one you watch these videos and tell me what is wrong here? i have posted them previously and asked for help many times but no one responded.. there is a latency in response to anything you do inside vegas even when clicking on video FX or transitions it takes like 2 seconds to respond and perform anything, and on the timeline its the same as well.. would it be a windows 11 issue? software issue? settings issue? i cant figure out what is the problem.

There's no known fix for delays beyond what andyrpsmith and I and Howard recommended above- did you try the different settings on file io in VEGAS?

Nizar-AbuZayyad wrote on 8/29/2023, 6:33 AM

@RogerS regarding the mov file, its working now, i changed a lot of things in the settings and tried many things following the comments, and i even unisntall vegas and reinstall it like 3 times.
this settings is what i have for now in file io
