Vegas Pro 21 crashes when importing mxf files

Post th e file's detaialed attributes with MediaInfo.
A specific codec may be missing or disabled.

MXF is a container used by both Sony and Canon. Some contents may no longer be supported as well by the latest vp21 build as they were in the past. You need to cut/paste the text display from MediaInfo to get a specific answer here. If Vegas actually crashes, make sure you enable all the info in the crash screen and tell it to send the report so developers can be advised.

@Michel-Fizzano XDCAM HD422 is the format they broke in vp21 builds 187 and 208. Rewrapping it into a different container doesn't help. It's not actually totally broken. It just takes a long long time to open the clips because it seems to be reading from the hard drive or ssd one byte at a time. Which will likely burn out your drive if you do it too often. Only corrective options I've found are to transcode it to something else or revert to an earlier build or edition of Vegas. Vp21 build 108 works fine.

@Howard-Vigorita Thanks for the heads-up! So then I have the answers I was afraid of: Vegas 21 tricked us to buy a new version they called an "Upgrade"... but in my book this is a "Downgrade"! What a mess! So I guess I will keep my old vp20 version that actually works and wait for them to find a solution to this awful situation.

But tell me, how is it possible to revert to an earlier build, like the one you mentioned (108)? Where do I find this?

@Michel-Fizzano You need to uninstall vp21 in order to install a previous version. I like to do it with the freeware Revo to get the benefit of the advanced registry sweep. But I skip the last step which removes plugins and shared components on the hard drive.

Hello, back in January I had problems with MXF files with an update from Vegas and so had to revert to build 108, which works fine with them. I'm would like to know if the new 300 build has solved this issue before downloading it. Does anybody have comments on this? Thanks for your help.

Wait for an upcoming new build, where the MXF issue is addressed. It is in work.
