in the Preference/General tab there is an option Dx11 output.

What does this mean?

I'm on 20.208 still. Can anyone comment on the stability of 22.194? I'm still experiencing WAY too frequent crashes working with HVEC 422 footage specifically from Canon R5's and Sony footage even with proxies. In fact I've never NOT experienced crashes. I'm curious how it's fairing before I dish out $150 to upgrade in an attempt to edit without pulling out my hair for once in the past 15 years.

I do not have you footage and your hardware - so hard to say what would be your experience. You could test the free trial of VP22.

Desktop: PC AMD 3960X, 24x3,8 Mhz * RTX 3080 Ti (12 GB)* Blackmagic Extreme 4K 12G * QNAP Max8 10 Gb Lan * Resolve Studio 18 * Edius X* Blackmagic Pocket 6K/6K Pro, EVA1, FS7

Laptop: ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED * internal HDR preview * i9 12900H with i-GPU Iris XE * 32 GB Ram) * Geforce RTX 3070 TI 8GB * internal HDR preview on the laptop monitor * Blackmagic Ultrastudio 4K mini

HDR monitor: ProArt Monitor PA32 UCG-K 1600 nits, Atomos Sumo

Others: Edius NX (Canopus NX)-card in an old XP-System. Edius 4.6 and other systems

You can always download the trial and try for your self. The trial is a great way to test on your hardware.

Using it as a daily driver right now I have no issues. I do use AIF for audio and HEVC+NVENC H265 video files in MOV format.

I have not had any crashes or instability from vegas it self when editing. Maybe when using 3rd party OFX like BCC here and there, but default program stuff. Seems very stable for me.

I'm editing HVEC 422 from Sony FX3 and the Canon R5 right now in 22.194. For now, definitely stick with 20. Vegas 22 rarely crashes while editing the footage and it has smoother playback (which is awesome), but it can't complete renders in 32 bit float and the renders take MUCH longer than Vegas 20. There's definitely some major HVEC 422 issues in 22. I'm rendering a 7 minute 32 bit float project and I'm attempting to render for the 4th time today because the first three attempts failed. It's been an hour and 25 minutes since I started the fourth render and I'm only 52% complete. I'm averaging like a frame per second.

Oof sounds like I'll hold off. I think I had the same issues with other build of VP20. Usually outputting 4K and rendering in 32 bit float with LUTs, all effects (and the worst, noise reduction Neat Video) I'm rendering it around 3-4fps on a 13900K. Which sounds 3-4X faster than what you're getting.

Broadcast AVC MPEG-TS out of sync, and then plays the beginning again. The video pause that capcut does at beginning is what Vegas should be doing to keep sync.

Vegas has never been designed for „broadcast transportstreams“. Use tools like womble for that.

@Wolfgang S. The release notes say

  • Improved GPU and compatibility support for AVC/MPEG transport streams

The Sample.ts used to play badly in VP21 without sound but is a black screen with sound now. hallodeutschland.ts would not load in VP21 but does now, but needs improvement

I upgraded and regretted it. Now all my old videos that I recorded through Bandicam in MP4 format with MPEG-4 codec do not open in Sony Vegas 22. Only one audio track opens, although everything worked before the update. in H264 video track opens, but I tried everything and I can't open the video track.

Because if they don't return to zero, the background music will be muted until the end.

I'm seeing vastly better performance using Canon 4K XF-AVC files in build 194 compared to the previous build. Also, aspect ratio of the 4K 4096x2160 clips is now handled correctly. Definitely an improvement based on my limited tests so far.

Installed and running, 5 minutes and straight back to editing. Seems improved performance here previewing 4K at 30fps. All good. Thanks. (And thank you for auto-normalise) :-)

It seems the market is demanding compatibility with these formats with Resolve introducing it less than a month ago and now Vegas quickly follows but currently both give buggy results. It will be high status if Vegas gets this working first.

@paul-marshall, on the Voice track, go to the track header - you can add these buttons to the track header or just choose the MORE option as shown in this image and make that track the "Controller" track.

Then you will be asked what settings to use - these are the default settings:

Now on each "Music" track, make it a listener - it lists all controllers so you can pick the correct one. This image shows one controller track to choose from:
