VEGAS Pro 22 Build 250 General Discussion

@Dexcon

This suggests that you've re-installed Windows and have reformatted the HDD or SSD as part of the new install process. Is this what has happened? If not, what do you mean by formatted?

After re-installing Windows, it is usually necessary to re-install all programs including Vegas Pro - especially after a reformat which effectively wipes everything from the HDD/SSD. Did you re-install Vegas Pro after the formatting? If not, try uninstalling Vegas Pro and re-installing it again.

I used the Reset this PC function in Windows after upgrading to a new SSD, so all files were erased. After that, I reinstalled Vegas Pro from the official link. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, deactivated the software on this PC and reactivated it again. I’ve tried various methods, but I still cannot render

Please note that the forum is a user-to-user to forum and not an alternative access to MAGIX Support.

Yes, I know. What I mean is, I have already submitted a report to MAGIX Support, but after 10 days there is still no response from them. I am very disappointed that a genuine customer is not being treated properly. That’s why I tried posting in the forum instead, hoping this problem can be solved. Please help me because my work has already been delayed for 10 days

@Sylvester ... Thank you for the broader explanation about what happened.

When Vegas Pro is installed for the very first time on a new computer or new C:\ drive - the latter in your case - additional (free) activations for some format codecs are required before those formats can be used in Vegas Pro. From point 10 in https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-faqs-and-troubleshooting-guides--104787/:

The following codecs require online additional activation the first time they are used in each version. Therefore if you connect your PC to the internet especially to activate VEGAS, it is recommended to also make short renders in these formats before disconnecting, if you anticipate using them:

Intel HEVC/MAGIX ProRes

Magix AVC/AAC MP4

MainConcept MPEG-2

MP3 Audio

AAC Audio

Dolby Digital AC-3 Studio

Sony XAVC-L/XAVC Intra MXF

Perhaps try a short render of one video event only on an otherwise empty timeline to AVC/AAC MP4 to see if Vegas Pro initiates the activation process for that format. But my experience over the years with a new computer/C:\ drive has been that simply importing an MP4 AVC event on to the timeline is enough to initiate the quick and simple activation process for the MP4 AVC/ACC format (as well as other formats where applicable).

Hoping that this works for you.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have already tried short renders (1 second) in all the formats available in Vegas, but none of them were successful. The same error still appears. Is there any other way?

Dexcon wrote on 8/25/2025, 4:40 AM

@Sylvester  ... As mentioned before, I've had success in getting the activation to work just by importing one of listed media types requiring activation on to the timeline - no rendering was needed.

Grasping at ideas, could an anti-virus program or a firewall possibly be blocking activation access?

support.magix.net? Is that a viable link? When I follow the links for support from the Magix website or from this forum by clicking SUPPORT at the top of this page, this is the link that I get: https://www.magix.info/us/support/form/

Maybe Bitdefender is a little too sensitive, but it blocks the magix.net site.

@Reyfox  ... Just going back to the https://www.magix.info/us/ webpage, I clicked on the Support button in the header and it took me to what looks like the same webpage as occurs when clicking on the Support Button on the forum. Scroll down and you get the 'Contact Support' button. I'm not sure where https://www.magix.info/us/ came from because I don't think that I've referred to that URL or ever used it.

@Dexcon curious...... since I never had an issue getting codecs activated, whether with Vegas or Magix editing software, I am stumped.

Now, since all codecs have been activated, I have no idea what to suggest. And since the OP stated that they reported the bug 10 days ago, the only one who can answer would be someone like @VEGASDerek?

I have notified the support team.

I’ve been testing build 250 for a couple of days now and while the interface feels smoother, I also noticed some instability during rendering. Rolling back to 248 seems to be the most reliable workaround for now, but it would be great if the dev team could address these issues in the next patch. For anyone struggling, make sure to list your system specs when posting—it really helps others figure out if it’s a compatibility or settings problem.
