VEGAS Pro 22 Build 250 General Discussion

For the people who's curious. I'm in contact with RogerS who I believe is a release manager or something.

Just filmed the stupid robot vacuum cleaner, and YES that file freezes latest Vegas Pro for me as in the PoC.

Here's the stupid robot that I hate so much because if messes up the map for no reason and frequently, soon my patience with it will run out and I will use it for target practice at the shooting range.

I have a AMD Ryzen 7 5700G and only have the built in GPU. I use the latest Windows 11 Pro updates. The latest drivers from AMD. I use no special voodoo magic settings. And no, I'm not a professional video producer. Will I buy a good film camera later? Maybe. Will I buy an intel platform with an massively expensive and noisy GFX card (NVIDIA?)? I think not.

I have a day job so that's why there's a lag here.

@Oden-Eriksson thank you for the additional info and the file. My computer specs are listed in my Signature below. Also, thanks for the file.

Specifically, which AMD GPU driver version are you using? How much dedicated GPU RAM do you have? You can find out with Task Manager. Right mouse click on the bottom taskbar and select Task Manager. Go to Performance and then click on GPU to see how much dedicated GPU RAM you have. You should have at least 4GB dedicated for the GPU.

As for the file. Dragging it onto a blank timeline, I did get an error message saying that the GPU driver (25.6.1) has timed out. The video clip on the timeline showed nothing in the preview, and Vegas had the spinning blue circle. I exited the AMD error reporting window and a few seconds later, your video clip played back fine.

There is a new driver release for me (25.6.2), but it is an optional updated driver and not WHQL. I'm downloading it now to give it a go to see if things improve.

I see that your latest iGPU driver is 25.5.1

Out of curiosity, have you ever updated your computer BIOS or Chipset?

@Oden-Eriksson me updating my GPU drivers to 25.6.2 didn't help. The same error message from AMD driver being timed out. I tried the "experimental HEVC" in Options>Preferences>File I/O and same issue. I disabled the GPU in the Video tab, and while it played back, the speed was terrible, even with 100% CPU usage (16 cores 32 threads) at 4.5GHz.

Have you tried shooting at another cellphone setting like MP4 instead of HEVC?

I did send in the bug report to AMD.

I have a Asus TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS WIFI II. As I'm a security geek I never use Windows online before running Windows update and updating the softwares I use and then looking if there's a new BIOS etc. etc. I dual boot W11 and Fedora and use Linux for the most part. I never use Windows for anything serious as I don't trust it. So, my PC is always up to date and I use Windows only for Mapsource and different AV related stuff.

But in this case I had never downloaded any cruft from AMD and now have to see if it was THAT driver which it wasn't.

I see I have only 512MB dedicated for the GPU and struggling to find where I change this. I found nothing in the BIOS. I have 64GB RAM installed which is plenty for a plain WS.

Next week I will have time do fiddle with this daytime.

Reyfox wrote on 6/25/2025, 3:32 PM

@Oden-Eriksson there are online videos of where to change it in the BIOS. 512MB is really not enough. You could go 8GB for sure.

Here is a video that might help you in the BIOS.

Thank you. That was quite hidden. But I changed it to 4G and tested again, no change. I looked in the taskmanager during freeze and it's like 99% usage but only 0,7/4G RAM used.

RogerS wrote on 6/25/2025, 6:51 PM

Does the auto setting for the IGPU ram usage adjust it dynamically? I'd be surprised if 512MB were a limit but don't have a modern AMD system to test with. Anyway it doesn't seem too be the issue here.

Heh. Got the BSOD for the first time ever since, maybe the NT4 days. Played a new video from the phone with the Windows media player and started Vegas and it froze then BOOM!

RogerS wrote on 6/25/2025, 11:16 PM

That doesn't sound like a VEGAS issue. What did the blue screen error say? I'd contact AMD.

It says nothing. Just dead freezes. I need to press the on/off button in order to revive it again.

Tried this 2 times and it's consistent.

Wonder what the stop code timeout is.

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance\Reliability Monitor

Should have more details support staff could use.

Reyfox wrote on 6/26/2025, 6:04 AM

What is happening with me, and I added a screenshot, is that there is a video driver timeout error. It happens as soon as I drag the clip to the timeline.

This is an AMD issue. Now, if you disable the GPU, it will drop on the timeline and play. Terribly slow, but no crashing.

I have no idea as to why this particular video is so problematic.

Again, try recording anything with, if you can, with MP4 instead of HEVC. Just a thought....

Sorry for the delay here, busy with other stuff. I need to find "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance\Reliability Monitor" I will ask a friend about this tomorrow.

I saw today that I can switch to H.264 in my phone and I will do that.

Reyfox wrote on 6/27/2025, 3:42 AM

You can see the Reliability monitor by typing it into the Windows search bar on the lower left, next to the Start button. I just type in reliability and it shows up.

Thank you, on my system it's called:

"Kontrollpanelen\Alla objekt på Kontrollpanelen\Säkerhet och underhåll\Tillförlitlighetsövervakaren"

This was interesting.

A lot of "C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ArmouryDevice\dll\MBLedSDK\NoiseCancelingEngine.exe" that stops working.

And the BSOD and other stuff.

I try to uninstall the ASUS cruft and try again.

That sucks, I really thought I uninstalled this a long time ago. Crap remains so I will install it again and use their "uninstaller". Can't believe I fell for this and installed this crap from the beginning, and trusted the uninstall worked.

I may end up doing a clean W11 install. This is why I really hate this CrapOS!

Oden-Eriksson wrote on 6/27/2025, 5:51 AM

OK. I got rid of the ASUS cruft but that was not the problem. I hope to see a bugfix for vegas soon, meanwhile I use H.264 in the phone for now.

Sounds like a good plan and thanks for clearly diagnosing this issue and providing sample footage- it's a great help. You can see the full list of bug fixes with each VEGAS release here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-vegas-post-release-history--104998/?page=3
