Hello, after switching from 21 to 22, I have a problem with rendering a 2-hour movie. Up to 20% it renders quickly, then avarage and current speed slow down. Slower and slower... Drivers are up to date, I always render in the same mode. What could be the problem?

If you look at Windows task manager/performance is the system or GPU ram filling up (memory leak?)
Is CPU usage dropping as the render continues?

Tested Version 22 (Build 93).

Created 32-bit SDR project. Imported Sony FX30 file (10-bit 4:2:2 Slog3.cine HD) to timeline.

Project view transform sRGB or Rec709.

  1. Somehow picture is bit dark, both while editing and rendered output.
  2. Max brightness around is 840/1023. Trying to push values up will saturate them to 840 (value is checked from luminance histogram).
  3. When testing same with 8-bit project picture is ok and max brightness is not clipped. Rendered file ok.

Picture about clipping problem.

When testing with Version 21 build 315

  1. Picture is ok
  2. Max brightness and adjustments works as expected.

-> This is major blocker for using version 22 build 93.

As separate topic

When comparing to Davinci Resolve, it would be nice if project media view&trimmer clips will be previewed using color transform. Now when selecting clips, they look washed out before they are dropped to timeline.

Did you set the color space for the media in the media properties menu?

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Laptop:

With slog 3 media and the color space set correctly I'm not seeing limited highlight values in 22.93. I set the ACES working space to ACEScc as the default has other issues (broken here).

With FX30 Sony XAVC-S - AVC (also Slog 3 10 bit) I don't see issues either- highlights get up above 1000.

Hello guys, I'm new here and I'll start complaining right away 😆 maybe something needs to be changed in the options, namely that after installing VP22 and opening the folder with video files in the explorer vegas tab it starts to lag when it loads thumbnails, it lags so much that you can't use the program. It starts working properly when you exit the folder with video files. What's the problem?

Apart from that, a big plus because finally from version 13 the preview started working properly even in best/full with imposed effects 😮

Not confirmed. Both the new and the old file explorer load the contents of the folder quickly in the list view mode. In thumbnail mode, of course they need to create thumbnails first. After that, everything is fast too.

The problem is so serious that I'm looking for files through the Windows explorer because the exploration mode in VEAS disrupts work.

The problem just appeared a moment ago, after over 3 hours of rendering, VP22 crashed at 86%.
The files are:
Media information
Stream format: XAVC
Video stream #1
Video format: AVC
Resolution: 3840 x 2160 px
Aspect ratio: 16:9
Color depth: 10 bit
Frame rate: 50.000 fps
Scan type: Progressive
Bit rate mode: Variable
Bit rate: 199999488 bps
Audio stream #1
Audio format: PCM
Sampling rate: 48000 Hz
Channels: 2 channels
Bit rate mode: Constant
Bit rate: 1536000 bps

I'm going back to VP21, it's just a shame to spend money on version 22.

@lukizap Did VEGAS run out of ram memory when you were rendering? Some others reporting low memory issues but nothing's confirmed yet.

@lukizap Czy VEGAS potrzebuje pamięci RAM podczas renderowania? Różne problemy, które występują z mniejszą pamięcią, ale jeszcze nie występują.

I sent a bug report, in fact when I checked it now, during rendering it uses 80% of my RAM, with VEGAS itself using 40GB and it's still growing, it definitely wasn't that much in version 21

I can't give the audio file *.m4a on the timeline In version 21 I didn't have this problem. Anyone know how to fix this?

@lukizap

thank you. You could switch for editing in the 8bit mode. And - you do not maintain the full range with the 32bit video settings.

You could also try to enable the legacy expolorer.

Cześć, po przełączeniu z 21 na 22 mam problem z renderowaniem 2-godzinnego filmu. Do 20% renderuje się szybko, potem średnia i aktualna prędkość zwalnia. Coraz wolniej...

Memory usage increases and rendering rate (fps) decreases. This happens from 25% of the 2-hour video rendering. If I turn off hardware acceleration, the rendering speed remains constant (50fps) and it's ok. Personally, I prefer it when acceleration is turned on, then it renders at a speed of 70-80fps and the program works better.

Krzysztof-Zientarski wrote on 8/1/2024, 9:15 AM

I also have a problem with smartmask2.0. It cuts out the character, but then the program freezes and it's hard to do anything. Audio sync doesn't work for me either. It's about sound from the camera + zoom h1n (wedding)

Have tested that with FS7 XAVC-I footage (UHD 50p). The buildup of the thumbnails takes are while, in both the legacy but also the new explorer. But after that, it is possible to continue to work. Hmm.

AI Smoother - Review

I like this plugin. It runs smoothly with the UHD770 on my PC.
I will be using it to smooth my face in the future.

Tip for improvement:
I wish it had a face-only feature. Something like the BCC Beauty studio plugin.

Agree.

Audio sync was one of the main reasons I upgraded to VP22. Can't even synchronize correctly 2 very easy and very clear audio files from 2 separate DJI wireless go mics. Seems like this was just a marketing trick. Back to Pluraleyes again... Has anyone successfully synced any audio files at all?

  1. The thumbnail alpha background is missing in VP22, everything has a black background.
  2. The folder navigation on the bar at the top gone, only the path to the file shows.
  3. & you can't click on a thumbnail, then click T for instance on the keyboard & it auto goes to Tree or Towel etc.

VP 22 Still lagging...
(Z8 G4 - Quadro P6000 - Xeon 2x Gold 6136 - 64 RAM)

@Bini You didn't scroll down far enough for me to see, but VP22 uses the new decoder (mxcompoundplug.dll), VP21 didn't which means it should be using all your CPU instead of 1 or 2 cores, based on your 12 core CPU you should notice sony files playing better compared to VP21, try good/full or preview/full Open task manager check Performance/CPU see if is using all your CPU. Try playback good/full or preview/full

At a minimum if you create proxies work with that and render your encoding should be much faster now.
