Hi again. Wow that's huge!! Are you starting from MTS 50p FHD file?
Making some tests with 1 minute clip MTS 50p FHD:
- to Mpeg-2: if in properties->File I/O I select "auto" in hardware decoder to use, no crashing anymore. Than in Properties->Video->GPU acceleration: OFF, I get a 57s (1.10s with GPU acceleration on "Optimal-Nvidia....").
- also rendering to MP4, if I select GPU acceleration to OFF, the rendering goes from 57s to 49s.... Very strange all this!?

Nothing strange because you change things in the settings and one of the best changes in VPro 18 is, that the program has no need anymore that you have to set some settings by yourself.

This program finds automatic the best settings for your hardware and situation. If drivers have to be renewed you find it in the Help Menu.
Do that first.
Best for you is after that to do a total reset of the program following exactly this: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/ and change after that nothing.
After a restart try to edit and render again

Has anyone figured this out yet? Is it settings related, hardware related? V17 rendered WAY faster than what I'm getting now. But now I have to waste my time bothering you gents on a forum about new "awesome" technology that sucks right now. I'd use Premiere Pro but that darn monthly payment keeps me away. LOL

@kamhunt
I think it is better to start your own question stating your used hardware and Vegas version plus buildnumber. Don't forget to give the needed information asked here under B and C: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/

It is likely settings, project, hardware and media dependent. In my tests VP 18 renders faster than 17.

If you want to see if Vegas is working right compared to similar machines, try this sample benchmark project here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/benchmarking-results-continued--118503/
