Vp15 B261 Intel HEVC render problem color artifact

I just did another test on a clip (see link below) and I get more and more the feeling that I am not hardware accelerated with intel HVEC codec with my i7 8700k (Note that magix avc/aac MP4 with nvec or intel seem to be HW accelerated) ...

A bug in Magix or Intel driver/codec? Or is it my system/setup?

@bitman

Thanks, yes I'm sure you currently did not use the Intel GPU for HEVC encoding. You have to connect your (main) monitor to the mobo.

Update to Peter_P: I now connected my ultrawide monitor to the intel mobo instead of nvidea, and guess what: Intel HEVC at 4K (your template, 30-40, 8 bit) : takes me now only 21 s to render HVEC render instead of 1 minute 36 seconds.

I also observe almost 99% intel 3d GPU usage in the task monitor.

However there is now a real bug : when I try to render 10 bit, Vegas pops up a error and I cannot render 10 bit....

When I was connected to nvidea card I had slow (I guess sw) render, but at least I could run 8 or 10 bit...

For me there is a confirmed bug with HVEC 10 bit and i7 8700K (or any with similar intel internal graph/QSV), at least with all the up to date drivers.

As a side note: I reconnected back my monitor to nvidea card, and again the hvec render is slow (HW not used/detected I presume), also 10 bit works again.

I am off to work now ...

Did you set the preview video acceleration to your nvidea card ? If not, this could additionally speed up not only render speed but also the capabilities of the preview frame rate.

This 15.5 s long hedgehog UHDp30 video sample renders on my i7-6700k to Intel HEVC 8-Bit with QSV in 23s (F=1.48)

>>i7-8700k:
>>Intel HEVC at 4K (your template, 30-40, 10 bit) : render time : 2 min 3 s (F=7.93)

When I disable QSV on this system, I can use the 10-Bit mode with CPU only and it renders in 2 min 27 s (F=9.48).

That's less different than I thought.

I now could render my 70 minutes UHDp30 XAVC-S project with the exchanged mxhevcplug folder from Build 216. So for the time being I can live with that solution.

These color artifacts may occur, when you are using Intel HEVC templates that have been used/altered in previous Vegas versions. To overcome the problem do some slight change, for example set the upper bitrate limit from 40Mbps to 41Mbps and save this template to be used for rendering.
