VP18.527 Color Grading - Use of Ctrl for fine adjustment lost

Espadon wrote on 6/6/2021, 12:39 PM

Since the 527 update I have lost the use of holding Ctrl to for fine adjustments in the "Color Channels" tab of the Color Grading Tool. It works on the "Color Wheels" tab. Can anyone else replicate this? Is there some setting I've missed?

Doesn't matter what files I'm working on. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the 434 update and it works fine.

I wish "fine adjustment" was the default in this tool (without Ctrl) as all my adjustments are invariably small.

It works as expected for me on the machine in About Me.

In the case of undefinable errors, a reset has often proved useful.

@Espadon

It sort of works for me while holding the CTRL key in Color Channels in 527, but I usually need to drag the mouse great distances before there is a change in value. And depending on what value I start with, I sometimes can't budge it. All the controls of that kind seem to have the problem.

For color channels I see what you are saying. Control+ moving it doesn't really work (takes a big mouse movement). The mouse wheel in increments of 10. The arrow keys sadly don't work. So I guess get it within 10 and then type in numbers to tweak. Or move the mouse very carefully and it can move in smaller increments.

Thanks for confirming this Roger. I originally thought that this was a windows update problem. After resetting Vegas I reinstalled my mouse and keyboard, clean reinstalled the GPU Studio driver, and played with the mouse speed settings but no difference. I also tried changing the various combinations of High dpi scaling. The fact that it works perfectly in the other grading tabs and works with the 434 update suggests a Vegas problem with the 527 update. Hopefully it'll be fixed in the next update.

Thanks Walter. This is the first thing I do when I have (thankfully not many) problems with Vegas over the years. I don't know why this feature is kept so secret from people new to the software. A "Reset" item under the Help menu to do this would be good!

Maybe suggest that in the feature requests thread in the "offtopic" forum area. Though I wish Vegas would do more of a reset whenever it's upgraded so manual intervention wouldn't be required.

Control+mouse wheel works for me. In increments of 1, that is.

Thanks Adis. This works for me too. I didn't realise you could use the mouse wheel. I can't see anything in the help file that indicates this.

However, I have discovered that it works perfectly by activating Color Grading from the hamburger menu on the video event. I have been activating by using the icon on the Timeline Toolbar - but since doing this with one clip it now works by the Timeline Toolbar also!

Everyone here would probably need it now and then.....😊

Did you try "select clip" then "Alt+G"?

Yes thanks Adis. You can also launch it from the Tools Menu: Video.

4 ways in total. It's still a bit flakey - this morning the Timeline Tool bar icon didn't work - but I managed to get it going using one of the other ways. I can use it - that's the main thing!
