VP21.0 Build 108 - Will not start with Deep Learning Models installed

AlanH wrote on 8/20/2023, 7:11 AM

I think this has been discussed in previous posts but I see no real fix.

Just upgraded to VP21 Build 108.

Have installed it on my main edit machine (Win 11 / Ryzen 9 5900X 32GB / AMD WX1500 8GB) and it seems to be running OK.

But when installed on my laptop (ThinkPad E15 / Win 11 / i7-10510U 16GB / RADEON RX 2GB), VP sticks on opening at 'creating windows'

As suggested elsewhere, I uninstalled Deep learning Models and VP runs up, BUT on engaging various video FX (probably needing the Deep Learning Models?) VP closes instantly.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both components to no avail - any ideas, please?

I had that issue once a while back with a vp20 update and the fix that worked for me was to start the newly installed update without Deep Learning installed, re-save all my Vegas window layouts, and then re-install Deep Learning.

Thanks, Howard.

I saved all window layouts (not a function I have ever used) but it made no difference when I reinstalled DLMs.

I also uninstalled VP17,18 and 19 including their DLMs, which were still cluttering up this PC. Not prepared to remove VP20 and its DLMs yet, as that still works fine!

So still inviting suggestions!

@AlanH
You know that the latest Vegas Pro versions have their own DLM installs?
So for Vegas Pro 21 you need DLM version 21.0.0.0_INT_230627_13-22

Yes, thanks, j-v, I was aware of that. That's why I mention the fact that VP20 and its version-20 DLM work fine, but the version-21 DLM in the current VP21 install package does not work with VP21.

I am retaining VP20 and its DLM as I need to keep at least one working version of VP on this backup machine.

I have to take your word for the DLM version, since the actual DLM installation file is obfuscated by the installation manager, and I cannot interrogate VP21 while DLM is installed... (Catch 21?)

Deep leaning version should be visible in Windows add and remove programs.

AlanH wrote on 8/20/2023, 12:53 PM

Thanks, Roger - forgot that.

I confirm that VP21 is version 21.0.108.0 and DLM-21 is version 21.0.0.0.

I'm assuming the other digits are install date/time.

@AlanH please see the Known Issues section in the release announcement. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-21-now-available--142064/

The application may appear hung, but if you wait long enough, it will eventually finish launching. (It may take many minutes to get past this.) Once VEGAS successfully completes the launch on e, it will launch quick in the future.

Many thanks, Derek - I had not seen that post. PROBLEM SOLVED! Took 11 minutes to launch, but as you suggest, VP21 lauches as normal now. Apologies for my impatience and thanks all for your other suggestions.
