VP22 imported footage wrong colour space

kingsting wrote on 6/12/2025, 10:34 AM

i have footage i am importing from obs, which is i444 format h264, with full colour range. when imported into vegas (vegas pro 22), vegas sets the colour range in the video properties to limited. while changing it back to full works, is there any way to have vegas set it to full by default? i have attached the codec information of the video. thanks!

Could you upload a sample for analysis? Dropbox, Google Drive, etc would be great.

thanks for your reply. i did notice that in the metadata, the "Video Full Range Flag" is indeed 1, so im not sure why vegas isnt respecting that. here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/pl9x1frw9auv7ohdhqpbr/sample-clip.mp4?rlkey=vr61etbq4zuo59c8trjxdtthe&st=ol2yf021&dl=0

Thanks for sharing this and I see the same wrong behavior with 22.
I'll report it and hopefully it will be fixed if there is another patch to 22, or failing that the next version of VEGAS.

@RogerS I too see it with my all AMD computer.

Just tried it myself and Vegas clip properties show it correctly as full range in vp19-21. But incorrectly in vp22 build 250. I also verified the metadata correct by scanning with ffprobe which reports YMIN=0 & YMAX=255 throughout.
