I got the same error while using Vegas Hub in VEGAS 20 build 139 (initial release), resulting in Vegas hanging (... not responding). After that, I get Vegas hanging on startup, after UI is complete but loading the saved .veg. My VEGAS 19 now also hangs on startup, but Vegas 18 starts and runs fine (Vegas 18 does not have Hub, right?). I tried full uninstall of Vegas 20 with cleanup of directories and folders, and then installed VEGAS 20 build 214 (newest). This new install also hangs on startup, although after more than 10 minutes it finally becomes active. However, clicking anything in Hub Explorer causes Vegas to hang for several minutes. I have also tried Windows 10 repair with DISM and SVC (which only found a couple minor issues unrelated to Vegas).

Apparently, it is some Microsoft Edge WebView2 component which Vegas Hub is using that is causing the hang. Does anyone know how to repair this? For example, should I just uninstall and reinstall Edge (if that is possible)? Other ideas?

I don't have 365, but was able to log into Vegas Hub, where I have Expansion Packs sales, Example Project, What's New, etc..

Thanks Reyfox, but I have had no issues with Vegas 365 until now. Hub worked fine until Yesterday. Maybe a Windows update is the culprit.

My Win 10 is also fully up to date.

My work-around: I have logged off Hub, removed VEGAS Hub and Hub Explorer tabs from my Window Layout, and saved the layout (without Hub) as my main layout. Now I can at least get some editing done while I try to figure out what is causing Hub to hang for several minutes every time I try to use it - and my Hub media do not preview.

Webview2 runtime can be removed from add and remove programs in Windows- it's under Microsoft. It should install automatically with Vegas. Perhaps remove using Windows and then reinstall Vegas?

It doesn't come with Edge or Windows installs as far as I am aware. If that doesn't work I'd do a support ticket and see if Vegas support can help.

I think Webview2 is used by Vegas for password complexity testing. There's a Webview2 sub-folder tree within the Vegas temp folder containing common password data sets. 1st showed up with vp19 around the time Vegas hub was introduced.

I seem to have resolved my issue with Hub Explorer hanging. It appears to be due to Windows update KB5018410 which was installed automatically on my Win10(21H2) installation on Oct. 15, 2022, two days before my problem with Vegas first occurred. I became aware of this via the thread - Text to Speech Not working, @VEGASDerek has said that the text-to-speech issue has been acknowledged by Microsoft, which is working on a solution. I do not know if my issue is related to this -- but I tried the following work-around with success:

  1. I set Windows Update to pause updates for 7 days.
  2. I uninstalled KB5018410 and reboot.
  3. In VP20.214 I opened VEGAS Hub and Hub Explorer tabs, and logged in to Hub
  4. The last downloaded content item (video downloaded at the point where Vegas first hung) still caused VEGAS to hang for several minutes when I clicked on it. Apparently a corrupt download. I right-clicked remove/local file on this misbehaving content item.
  5. I also removed two other older problematic content items with black thumbnails.

Now Hub is working normally as before with no hangs. Hub previews are snappy and I am happy. 😁 Hopefully Microsoft will issue a patch quickly. I will extend the pause on Windows Update until they do.
