What are the top new features you'd like to see in Vegas?

One feature I really miss is a visual cue of what assets are actually used on the timeline

Right click the 1st event on the T/L and Select Events to End. Then RC the 1st event and Select in Project Media list. You should see the clips used on the T/L selected in the Project Media window.

Thanks @vkmast - I would never have figured that out!

Grazie wrote on 10/20/2017, 10:51 PM

Or, the “Use Count” Column in the Project Media Pane sort from ZERO “0” upwards. 0 = not used; 1 = once, 2 = Twice, etc etc. Or, the Boolean Search Feature and save the results as a New Bin!

Content Aware Fill. Those of us that work in Photoshop know this feature well, and it has saved me countless hours in my still work. Now, they are apparently bringing this feature to Premiere. If they include it in Premier Elements, I would buy a copy of that just to utilize this feature. Just imagine how many clips this could save.

"No word yet on if or when we’ll actually see Cloak arrive as a feature in a software release."

Doesn't sound like they are even near to bringing it to After effects, never mind Premiere Elements. In the meanwhile there is Mocha ....

I always find it irritably frustrating when I stop playback on the timeline, and make adjustments in the open EventFX window, I could be making adjustments (like color corrections..) for a different clip as this clip is not selected as the active clip.

Once you realize, Then you have to Undo, Select the correct clip, Redo all your adjustments.

Would be better if preferences could be set 'auto select clips at cursor position' or create such a Command as a key binding. -Maybe I am just an idiot and don't know how to do this very simple thing without having to use the mouse or multiple key commands?

This could also help with having to readjust the timeline cursor position for the 'Split Clip' command, which also won't execute when the clip is not selected active, even though the timeline cursor is there...[makes me mad...!]

Something simple I would like to see is an option to ensure that Vegas closes the full preview window when a render is started. The full screen preview does nothing while Vegas is rendering so it should just close itself before the render starts.

GREAT SUGGESTION, YES PLEASE! I also often make the mistake of thinking I am adjusting a clip's fx while anothers' is active in the fx panel. Having the fx panel window change focus to whatever clip is under the cursor (and on the active track) would be a real time saver.

not everything is exactly clear to me, I think they check your email once a month, used to be 3 installs on different gear, but now they're trying to clamp down towards a single user license? If you find out pls let me know

AV01 will be new YouTube Codec and will be allot better Quality!

@amir97 The feature request thread is here. This is a 4 year old thread nobody is checking anymore.
If you actually upload in AV1 does YouTube still reencode it? Where can you get AV1 or VP9 files from? Does any camera shoot that these days?

Quick easy way to right click and have the choice to save my adjusted title I worked on as template so I can use it in other projects

KeithH wrote on 5/11/2021, 11:08 PM

Being honest every YouTube that has ever done a review in video pro x was after it was bought by Magix. So human nature says at that time they look at video people x. In the infamous words of one infamous YouTube at the end he said “honestly I wish the two kf then got together and had a baby”

Ie video pro x is the uo and smoothness u need. But video people ex has all the stuff that people for the last twenty years are used to. Video Leo ex is way better than vegas pro but it’s worse because not many people use it because the same people that review video people x are the same people that hands down know vegas lro like the front and back of their hand and they have mkney to make. So they go where the other people are entrenched like them.

marry the two programs and u got a winner

KeithH wrote on 5/11/2021, 11:10 PM

I’m doing a trial in both vegas pro and video lro x . Vegas is more owedfuk if it will not crash . I have to go to the forum for how to download obs just so a simple screen recording won’t upset it. Everything is a work around.

KeithH wrote on 5/11/2021, 11:13 PM

So my feature request is just simply make it work, and lower your cost because there’s no reason to pay that price with the massive instability of your program. Just can’t do it with what’s out their now. I’m learning and fresh so I’m not ingrained into a “teaching” but u way over price In today’s market. The value is not there

Reyfox wrote on 5/12/2021, 5:12 AM

I know it's late and everything is basically set in stone, but the return of the way VP17 and before displayed the Video FX tab with the fx in their proper folders instead of being alphabetized as it is now in VP18.

Fonts showing as they are in the font drop down menu in the text editors.

Faster timeline preview without having to change Preview Quality.

Dynamic RAM, how to actually use it and why? You should be able to highlight the area, and render it without having to know if you have allocated enough RAM.

Keep up the good work developers! Even though I have several editors, Vegas is the one I open always first.

@Reyfox  ... happily, you've already suggested this back in November last year in the thread that specifically addresses VP19 feature requests: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-19-feature-requests--123432/?page=5

You wrote at the time (on page 5):

Reyfox wrote on 11/28/2020, 11:27 PM

Something simple, and should be added in an update for VP18.... have the option to view the Video FX tab as in VP17 and before. A lot of the fx have animated thumbnails to give you a quick idea of what the fx will do, and have everything in their proper folders.

Hopefully, VP19 wasn't 'set in stone' back in November 2020 🙂.

I'm not sure why this old thread from 3.5 years ago was resurrected by amir97 within the last 24 hours for Vega Pro 19 requests when there is already an extensive and very current thread for VP19 requests, as linked above.

@Dexcon forgive the old "one brain cell left" man.... me.

I know it has been discussed previously (it is my least liked "feature" of VP18), very much so.....

Yes, we do have a VP19 list...

I was answering this in between the online classes I teach.... and obviously, the one brain cell wasn't functioning too well...
