DRS! - A BIG fat YES from me too.

I'd like both SCS and ProDAD to come across with a combined statement on this.

I too would like to hear from SCS on this.

8 or 9 years ago I had severe system issues after a K-Lite install, but I think it had to do with the source of the download more than the codecs. I wasn't as wise then.

There may still be sources who are adding dangerous things to the codec pack. When I was searching for a solution a year or so ago for a Mac file that I couldn't play, I stumbled upon one site offering a "K-Lite Mega" install that listed the (quite expensive) CalibratedQ codecs as part of the pack. I obviously didn't download it but it let me know there were sources still adding some potentially nasty things.

What a mess! I'm just a guy who has Windows 8.1 and wants to put together youtube videos using footage from my Droid Phone and Nikon SLR using Vegas Studio. (I have the 10.0 version that was previously on a different computer).

I've couldn't set getting Vegas to recognize video in the MOV files from the Nikon. I've installed ffdshow and it was working intermittently, with frequent crashes when adding the clips and corrupted *.vf files. So I uninstalled it, but it keeps crashing and corrupting my *vf files.

So is there a way to get this working without becoming a digital media engineer?

Do a system restore to a time before the codec pack was installed. Then uninstall/reinstall Vegas.

If that isn't possible, a cold OS install "may" be in order following a full backup.

MOV files are decoded with the Quicktime for Windows libraries; that's where you need to find your solutions, not with ffdshow.

Your post indicates you are using Movie Studio. Please continue your inquiry on that forum, as Vegas Pro (this forum) is not the same software. Thanks!
