The quality of these renders is visible better than when using Magix AVC/HEVC render

@3POINT I'm curious. Where do you see this - sharpness, colour, smoother movement?

I see this while I always downscale my 4k footage to FHD (so 2160p50 to 1080p50). There is a visible better image (much less visible artifacts) when rendering with Voukoder than when rendering with Magix.

As an example: 2160p50 in 1080p50 timeline rendered with

Watch the visible difference in quality of the statues and in the text of this fountain recording.

ps I just discover that it seems that uploads here are re-encoded and do not reflect the original quality. So forget about above examples. I will share later today the orginal recording and renders by dropbox for those interested. First I have to celebrate my grandkid birthday today.

Maybe also Voukoder could be standard implemented into Vegas and Magix donates.

I finally tested the idea that Voukoder should be much better when using track level FX that have any degree of zoom in due to Vegas altering project resolution to encoded resolution when encoding with internal codecs. This is a 4K project rendering to 720P, and then blown up to 1080P to help with comparing.

Maybe Sony chose to do this was because of the lack of computing power, lack of GPU scaling and hardware encoding when it was designed. It's a 'cheat' to improve rendering speed but could lead to lower quality results

It is possible to set QP value 20 for example for high quality encode, but at the same time specify the max bitrate say to 150mbit/s, because i will watch this video from my NAS and now at high detailed scenes bitrate goes up to 200+ mbps, where my player stops and start buffering for a few seconds. I don't want to try many renders with QP 21, 22, 23... and check the max bitrate, what is acceptable to me.

When you want to specify a max bitrate you should use VBR and not CRF encoding. To use lower bitrates you could use HEVC and the standard QP 23 setting, which is more as sufficient for 4k content. I even usually use QP 25 or 27 for 4k, because my 4k TV doesn't like peaks above 100mbps.

ok, i will try with vbr, 'cos i fear even with QP23 on very high detailes scenes (like fast flying near pinewood with a drone) bitrate can still go up so high, that my player/network cannot handle.

Makes no sense to use bitrates higher than the bitrate of the original footage. My 4k50 footage is 100mbps and also sometimes contains high detailed scenes like sea waves and grass landscapes. Therefore is use QP25 or QP27 with HEVC (NVIDIA) and have no issues while playing/viewing.

Just keep in mind that hevc puts more info into less space than avc and that changes in chroma sub-sampling also have a big impact. As a general rule of thumb, it's recommended to increase avc bitrates by about 20% if rendering from hevc. You may need to go higher if synthetic content is added. Such as converting from 4:2:0 to 4:2:2 sub-sampling (ProRes does that), using certain Vegas media generators, or if you use Vegas AI Fx such as Upscale. If you render hevc 4:2:2 material to avc 4:2:0, you can probably get away with equal bitrates since the decoding expansion is offset by the chroma sub-sampling reduction.
