RE: no Vegas Pro 14 :(
"Audio Workflow in the Catalyst Production Suite" Great but why would I want to put clips from Camera 1 and Camera 2 on the one track? For sure it'd be great if Prepare could be used to get all your 'audio ducks in a row' before taking

RE: Hybrid SHDD
The speed difference between rendering to the same drive and to a different drive is so incredibly minimal as to be inconsequential. That really depends on your Project. Rendering my ususal 3-4 multicam project to the same drive the project media

RE: Editing an 11 camera shoot
Are you guys saying that if you apply color correction to the individual clips as a Media FX that Vegas doesn't strip it clean after converting to a single Multi-cam track? Yes that is correct and that is the way I am working since more then

RE: Editing an 11 camera shoot
Apply color correction as Media FX and no problem. ++1 This is actually Vegas biggest plus. You can first apply your basic correction to all the camera material on a the Media FX level and still have minor correction done on the event level

RE: Editing an 11 camera shoot
I didn’t expect much of a playback rate, especially with three 4k cams, and sure enough, even at Draft Auto quality, the Multicam screen gave me a jerky 1 fps. If there was ever a time for using proxy files, this is one of them!! It would take a

Editing an 11 camera shoot
For a recent dance concert, I indulged myself a bit and used every HD cam I have: Sony EX1, Z1, A1, AS15, AS30, AS100, MV1 Zoom Q3HD Plus three 4k cameras: Sony x70 and two X1000V s I didn’t expect much of a playback rate, especially with three

RE: Multi-camera locking up Vegas Pro 12
I find I have to change the RAM setting in prefs to 0 or I get crashes with GPU on when using multicam.

RE: Advice re new PC for next 4 years?
What Oldsmoke lists is a good choice, I would god with 32GB+ of RAM over 16GB. GPU is a hard call at the moment what with the changes coming down the road for Vegas and Catalyst Edit. Multi GPU may be supported in the future with Catalyst Edit,

RE: Premiere similar to Vegas
@Cliff For my projects multicam is important and I don't always have access to cameras with gen lock, doesn't exist on a GoPro for example. I know Vegas isn't perfect but it still remains the fastest NLE in terms of getting things done; IMO.

RE: Premiere similar to Vegas
I downloaded the Premiere CC trial again and it's still way off from what Vegas can do in a blink of an eye. I must admit, I am not good with it but that's exactly the point, it isn't intuitive at all. So a few questions here: How do you make a

RE: 4k crop and pan
John, thanks for the reply. I am currently using Vegas Pro 12, which apparently does not accept m2v elementary files. So I am now testing the trial version of v13 and following your instructions, I was able to import a m2v file into the Project

RE: no Vegas Pro 14 :(
What would be the minimal set of features that you would need to use Catalyst Edit? Aside from OFX I need multiple display support, a major drawback on the current version. Catalyst Edit also has the ability to skim clips in the browser and mark

RE: Anyone editing 4K multicam?
Mark I tested today a 3cam multicamera track with AX100 4K 29.97fps files converted to XAVC-Intra also at 29.97fps, I used the free Catalyst Browse for it. I get around 27fps at Best/Full when I enable the multicam view which isn't bad. I get

Thanks for the input guys! Just what I was looking for. John, I think you're right about a system upgrade being in order. Since posting, I tried moving the second camera files folder to a completely separate drive, deleting the file folder from its

RE: Anyone editing 4K multicam?
Even a Gen1-i7 can edit 4 cams of 1080 XDCAM-EX with a good GPU. If the proxy feature is not working well for you. You could just manually create proxies of your own, and switch back and forth. I also think getting out of that XAVC-S format into

RE: Anyone editing 4K multicam?
Going to try that next. I'm wondering if anyone else is doing this and what their workflow is. If you're using proxies, could you tell me how long they take to build? Was hoping that I am not the first person using Vegas to do this. Always better to

Anyone editing 4K multicam?
Trying to successfully edit a two camera shoot, 4K multicam, with decent playback. Or playback at all. I'm using 2 cameras, both Sony AX100, shooting 100 Mbps XAVC-S. Computer is a 4 core Xeon 2.8 16 GB ram with all footage on an internal 4TB 7200

WOT: Average Resolution for Mid-80s CCTV?
The apartment complex I live in was built in 1979 as from what I know so far, it's on-site surveillance system is deemed to be from shortly thereafter, perhaps mid-1980s. I've seen the master panel with multicam layout, it's as expected, all black

RE: Resolve 12 final is out.
I've been trying Resolve12 lately, and doing one easy complete project on it, during their Beta3 and Beta4 release. Still so much to learn, including the roundtrip between Sony Vegas and Resolve. Perhaps anyone who has experience on this can share

RE: Help with building a new PC for Vegas
Right now the PC we have renders a 10 minute HD video in about 20 minutes. We want to knock that down to about a minute. That's impossible, just impossible. Up to 1-3 times faster than realtime is feasible, but not 10 times faster. Storage: Samsung

RE: Seeking opinions on Davinci Resolve and Fusion
I have been learning Resolve12 lately. There's a huge improvement on editing side, but for performance and speed editing, Sony Vegas Pro still win. At least you can still do the work with limited computer spec. For Resolve12, the computer spec must

No reason not to be a Pro
I'm still in absolute awe of perhaps one of the most amazing full hd video cameras available to low to medium budget video producers.. The HDR CX900 has changed my life as a poverty stricken producer.. The footage works with my Sony Vegas pro 12
