The cursor seemed to go wrong when it got to a Newblue Titler 7 scrolling title. Now that project is permanently broken. Whereas other projects work fine, including the cursor.

Reverted to 302 and normal service resumed including the broken project. Thats a relief! It had been finished, but it never is really, there's always something to tweak.

Even though my cursor is there and moving you cannot scrub during playback as before,

My "Playback Cursor" also is not working after this latest build. Not sure how to roll back to previous version?

How did you revert back to 302? I have not done this before. Thanks.

I just got some feedback on my service request about the playback cursor disappearing in my project; they found a bug in the new build's volume and fx envelope code. Don't know how general or long lasting my work around of recreating the project with copy/paste might be. Hopefully there will be a patch soon.

Just dragging the cursor along the timeline.

Set, are you aware if you Reset Cache (Hold Ctrl+Shift while starting up), it gets rid of any personalization you have made to your user interface and reverts to the window you see on a first time fresh install? Since I have painstakingly create a personalized interface, I dare not use that option!!

This is from support via email? How on earth did you get a response so quick?

Reyfox wrote on 12/18/2025, 4:45 PM

@andyrpsmith thanks. I can drag the cursor all over the timeline. I can grab the cursor "line" and move it around by that too.

So far for me, this current build has been better than anything from the past. I have 100 tracks in the current project, and no issues so far.

I feel for those that have this problem. I can not see working with it at all.

I am facing the same issue. I updated today to 23 v 356 and the playback cursor does not move when the timeline is playing. When I hit stop, the cursor jumps to the correct timeline position. (nVidia Driver 541.44)

UPDATE: I followed the advice above and downgraded to 302 and everything is working fine again with regards to the playhead cursor.

Reyfox wrote on 12/19/2025, 5:05 AM

I wonder if this is because of the Nvidia GPU/driver?

The cursor issue is not an NVIDIA driver one. Try playback with collapsed tracks to see it.

541 is getting old for VEGAS though and also didn't work with NV Encoding in the newest build.

ProZeidon wrote on 12/19/2025, 5:41 AM

I am experiencing the same playhead cursor issue after updating.
The problem appears to occur when track sizes change, which seems to happen randomly. As soon as I restore all tracks to their default size, the playhead cursor works again - but only temporarily, as the track sizes suddenly change once more.

In addition, my Master Bus does not display any activity and the icons in the Project Media has shrunk.

I will also downgrade, as the previous version did not exhibit any of these issues.

Reyfox wrote on 12/19/2025, 5:52 AM

@RogerS I have 100 collapsed and Parent Child tracks and the cursor moves just fine during playback/pause and scrubbing. And this is not temporary because I can work for hours and the cursor still works.

With everyone having issues (only 1 AMD GPU reporting issues, but Intel CPU like all the others), I had to check to make sure I was on B356, which I am.

It was pretty easy to replicate. Zoom in, play, try hitting ~ a few times. Anyway the developers pulled this build for this reason so it shouldn't be an issue in the next build we see. I'll likely return to 302 shortly due to all the other problems.

Reyfox wrote on 12/19/2025, 6:21 AM

I just tried it, no problems. I'll keep this build on my computer. So far, the best build yet for me personally.
