I just bought a Samsung newest 4K HDR Quantum dot TV along with their newest 4K HDR blu ray player. I also bought BBC Planet Earth II feature 4K HDR disc. Needless to say. I am absolutely love the 4K HDR footage. My question here is, has anyone have successfully author 4K blu ray disc or 4K HDR disc? Care to share your secret?

Hi

I think currently authoring software for 4K discs is very expensive and limited.

As most TVs/4K players are happy playing media files, it's just a case of rendering out a HEVC file or even H264 and just playing that, the end result is the same in terms of image quality, of course no fancy menus etc.

Regards

Phil

That‘s true and I think there will be no real change for low budget in the future. At least I ‘need’ the functionality of chapters to jump to. Currently I insert them from the Vegas markers output with drax. It would be very nice if Vegas pro would insert them directly into the *.mp4 output.

You probably have to schedule a meeting to "assess your requirements" before even getting a quotation for the software that can do this. There's also this available for a few thousand Euros.

If it ever happens, I bet TMPGEnc Authoring Works will be one of the first to make affordable software that can do it.

A Google for "uhd blu ray authoring" turns up a few discussions including this.
