i thought it might be an idea to keep them under one heading? i don't really have the time to read multiple threads covering the same topic.

sorry if it's a lousy idea.

Cut my render time in half (John Cline's render test). 1 minute 3 seconds on 8.0c. 31 seconds on 8.1.

Installed just fine over 8.0B on my system. I still have silent videos from my Aiptek camera, but the changes to the trimmer look great. A couple of .mov renders appeared to be faster. I have not tried the HDV rendertest again to see if there is a measurable improvement.

Cut my render time in half (John Cline's render test).

I ran it and found no difference at all on my system (2:08 with both b & c).
That's the extent of my playing with it so far.

Mike, if you looks more closely he was comparing 8.0c (32bit) with 8.1 (64bit) - not b against c.

jrazz .. does 8.1 co-exist with 8.0C versions all on the same license?

Thanks Edward. I missed that completely.
Blame it on a very long day at work.
Very nice render time but, as my machine is only a year old, my wife would do serious damage to some of my body parts if I bought a machine like Jeremy's (j razz).

They, 8.0c & 8.1, work just fine on the same system (on mine anyways). The only issue I have is that both want to claim the veg file.

Rats. Can't install 8.1 .. getting "Windows installer service could not be accessed"..
I checked Windows installer and it is "started" .. Installed the new 4.5 windows installer...set windows installer to "automatic" .. nothing works.

I remember seeing this error in Vista before but can't remember how I solved it.

Is it just me, or does all audio drop out of Spot's Youtube video after the line "Let's take a look at what's been put into 8.0c that's going to ...."?
bruceo wrote on 9/11/2008, 6:41 PM
Yep it drops out. Wonder if on purpose :-) Spot?
Jonathan Neal wrote on 9/11/2008, 6:43 PM
Spot, thanks for sharing. I'm not sure if meant to do this on purpose but the audio in your video cuts out at about 25 seconds in. It doesn't happen in another video I tested on YouTube from VASSTTraining.
Infinite5ths wrote on 9/11/2008, 6:52 PM
Audio drops out of Spot's video here also
kentwolf wrote on 9/11/2008, 6:53 PM
i think that's terrific that Spot put this up as to the new features.

Hope the audio cut out gets fixed soon. I really want to see (& hear) this video!
Spot|DSE wrote on 9/11/2008, 6:58 PM
Oy...Sorry guys, looks like YouTube munged it. I'm re-uploading now. It's uploading to the VASST Channel on Vimeo as well. The Vimeo is *much* better as it's HD, but it can't be embedded here.

"Cut my render time in half (John Cline's render test). 1 minute 3 seconds on 8.0c. 31 seconds on 8.1."

I'm seeing roughly the same....... almost twice as fast.

Having trouble scanning for VST's though.... keeps crashing while attempting to scan. I guess it's hitting a VST that it doesn't like.

Douglas,

All the searches I do on Vimeo don't get me to the VASST channel. What's the direct URL?
jabloomf1230 wrote on 9/11/2008, 7:46 PM
Rendering time is identical to 8.0b on my computer. Actually it's also identical with 8.1.

Is it just me or are the Vegas file icons kind of crappy looking? Especially when sitting next to the crisp and clean *.PSD icons (which by the way are 256x256 vista compatible).

Very nice one, Spot, and fasst out :-)

Do you have nothing better to complain about?
Whitlam wrote on 9/11/2008, 9:25 PM
8.0c still crashes during AVCHD renders on Vista 64, haven't tried 8.1 yet.
