Sorry Wolfgang S., but for a moderator your comments are too argumentative and confrontational.  I humbly suggest you listen more and write less.  That would help to mend bridges in the communtity.

Just my opinion of course . 😃

This is my opinion as well....

And mine. Moderators should be neutral, but his posts comes across as very confrontational and dismissive of anything that isn't 100% pro-Magix.

I must admit I'm surprised by all these adverse reactions.  Sure, I would have liked the upgrade to be $50 less, but my first priority is to try and ensure the future of Vegas, so I upgraded.     For anyone using Vegas to make a living like me, $50 is a trivial amount.  Yes, the flow of upgrade information could have been better, but keeping things in perspective I'm happy and editing.    I remember scores of posts in the old forum saying things like "forget the bells and whistles - give us stability."      Magix appear to have delivered on that, and now everyone's grumbling.

OldSmoke wrote on 9/28/2016, 7:13 PM

Peter

I have no stability issue with VP13 and frankly, from all the info I gather from the forum, there is not much improvement in VP14 over VP13. It is actually worse for some and there are features missing too.

The issue is the way we are asked to pass on the earlier offer and wait for another offer which implied it would be a better offer.

I chose not to take the upgrade offer at this time. While a more agressive offer might have caused me to jump in, I don't find the value in 14 right now. 13 has been pretty solid for me and 14 performance seems to be a downgrade. Whether it turns out to be an opportunity missed by Magix or me remains to be seen.

Spectralis wrote on 9/28/2016, 10:45 PM

The $249 deal for Vegas Pro is open to everyone apparently which, in effect, means previous customers are subsidising new ones by paying $99 more for this upgrade than we normally would. It's not just $49 more expensive than in the past to upgrade but $99 because Sony always gave us 30% off for the first 30 days.

Well I suppose he is at least responding to us which is more than Magix seem to be doing officially. But I agree that it's not really helpful to keep digging the hole that Magix started. By the way, I've just received another offer for Photostory 2017 but nothing about Vegas Pro 14. That tells me a lot about Magix's priorities.

I'm so disappointed after years of using Vegas, years of working with and learning from other vegas users, the time has come to say goodbye to it,

Magix really seem to have no clue about the loyal user base they are destroying, users who through thick and thin have upgraded with the hope of the big fix,

All I've seen here is utter confusion, anger, and used let down by a company trying to compete in a high end market place, when their mentality is that of a company that deals in $45 software

And before anyone jumps in a talks about sampletube that. That Started life in the hobby section and to most within the pro audio world it still is,

So what else did we expect,i shouted out a few times I've still not got any emails I've seen no offers at all.

I'll stick with Adobe now for the past 2 years they have opened my eyes on how a software house should be.

Well... i am using Adobe AE and PS for a while now, i am lucky to be an employee in a hospital, so i only pay 20euro a year for ALL Adobe projects, never even used Premiere or wanted to try out..the way this all is going i think i will might download it this weekend...I still think VP will be the best with timeline editing but if the future stays this way i do my hobby somewhere else or just stick to VP13, atleast everything is working..for me :)

Are you now saying I was right with all my previous statements about Magix?

No. And you know that I did not say so.

Perception is not the truth Georg, as you see here.

Perception on the customer's side is the only thing that matters in communication.

Anyway, approx. 50 days until all the big software companies will communicate their Black Friday offers ... let's see what Magix will offer.

Dexcon wrote on 9/29/2016, 9:00 AM

The whole VP14 release has been much like watching a train wreck taking place in slow motion

Worsening the situation on this forum is the presence of a poster who seems to be (IMO) a Magix apologist, who (IMO) defends the indefensible in much the same way as a political party’s spin doctor often convincingly but unfairly deflects embarrassing problems to the fault of their political opponents; or defence lawyers who attempt to obfuscate the charge against their client by laying the blame with someone/anyone else.  On this forum (IMO), there seems to be a feeling in some posts that if you’re not “pro-Magix’s release and pricing strategy”, then you (we) must be the problem – you know, as in the old business approach from the 1980s, “if you not part of the solution, you must be part of the problem”.

The lack of AC3-Pro support in VP14 – and apparently also in DVDA7 – is a product killer for me.  Adapting an earlier post’s analogy to motor cars, I see the lack of AC3-Pro support as being an equivalent to Kia buying Ferrari, then releasing their new Ferrari with cross-ply tyres, and without any advance notice of that to their Ferrari customers.

Sadly, there’ll be no VP14 for me, no matter how good the Black Friday offer is.

To be specific, my question now is, "why did Magix offer v13+v14 for $199 to anyone in July/August, when it was presented as a upgrade, Eric then stated v13 users should hold for the release in September, then in September Magix offered Vegas Pro 14 at $249?  I don't expect Wolfgang to address this question, unless he gets the answer from Magix to post here.

Thank You and Best Regards......George

Sorry to come back to this one more time.

This is more an advice and you may want to take it up with the managment too.

Altering a post that is not your own by deleting content does not seem appropriate, reducting it would be the better way to go in my opinion. This way you are not altering the orginal posters opinion or expression because it is not yours to do so. In the old SCS forum certain words where automatically reducted with * and that is fine; you can replace a character with a special character but again not with another character or in any way that would form a new word and change the intented content of the orginal post. If you dont have an automated system then you can still do it manually but I personally would never dare to delete portions of someone else post.

And yes, that is my opinion.

Everyone,

I realize that the wording of the post we published at the time of the earlier promotional offer has caused much of this frustration and we're all sorry for that. We seriously value each and every one of you as customers—old as well as new. While there will likely be future promotional pricing, we intend to build loyalty based on quality and value, not on deep discount pricing that cannot possibly sustain a business. I truly hope you will stay with us.

Thanks for your passion.

Gary

ps; yes, I'm a MAGIX employee, but for some reason we haven't figured out yet, the black badge with M in it doesn't appear for me.
