I've just been "nudged" by Mr Gates.

Anybody installed this one? KB4023057: Update for Windows 10 Update Service components.

@j-v - What are you saying? Don’t understand......

That's the update issued in April that nulled out the KB5000802 problem update from March. There have been 2 cumulative updates since then for May and June. I got 'em all and they've been good to me.

+1

In my case, KB4023057 was one of three things that got updated. Changes on the task bar - seems like some kind of a news feed:

Microsoft knows your needs better than you and turned it on, even though that's the first thing I turn off when I build a new system image.

It can be turned off.

You have to paddle really hard to stay in the same place.

Haha! 😂

Thank you, John! :)

Better approach is to uninstall most of the Win10 "bloatware" completely with a powershell script in admin mode. There's a bunch of scripts and wrapers around including a comprehensive script on github. I think the command I used back in v1909 to blast the news app when it first showed up was this: (and it never returned, no it never returned)

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.BingNews | Remove-AppxPackage

Why are you guys installing Windows updates immediately as they are released on your main video editing systems? If this is your craft which you make a living from, doing this is a recipe for hiccups or at times disaster in your editing workflow.

Yes, installing these updates maybe fine for a regular computer user who doesn't use one for system intensive work and who's livelihood isn't revolved around it.

But, you may say windows updates never cause me no issues, yeah sometimes they do and you simply think its something else.... Remember, this is an accumulative process.

"Why are you guys installing Windows updates immediately as they are released on your main video editing systems?"

I'm not. I wait until they are pushed.

@Steve_Rhoden - Hence my question Steve. I'm especially timid about Uncle Bill's offerings as my MONSTA! had been with the Build company for 100 days. I'm NOT gonna make any rash WU that maybe be around. NO!

I'm not. I wait until they are pushed.

@john_dennis - Agreed!
