I am a VEGAS Pro 21 user, but am asking if anyone can recommend a good screen recorder (preferably free). I also work part time for the Open University as an Associate Lecturer, and sometimes need to record content I create to upload to my students. All suggestions appreciated.

OBS is close to a standard. If you record H264 in an mp4 container with a keyframe interval/GOP of your frame rate (60) its files will edit well in VEGAS, too.

A great feature is that there's an option in Settings that allows OBS' window to be open on the monitor and OBS will ignore its own window when recording the screen.
@AzadAdagio I use Nvidia Geforce. Alt+F1 takes a screengrab pic & Alt+F9 records the full screen.
OBS is what I use when plugged into an Nvidia or Intel gpu. I like the Amd capture facility built into their driver app better when plugging into their gpu's however.
