Big problems with 9070 XT

@Reyfox - I tried your project setting file, which is not much different to the extra affects I added as you mentioned. Using your affect in the timeline and the default template [MAGX AVC/AAC MP4 - Internet UHD 2160p 25 fps (AMD VCE)] I get the same problem results (lots of stuttering/repeated frames). Just to be clear we are using the same default settings, find below the Video and Project settings of the template I use:

I have updated my signature for my system settings

Vegas Pro 22 (VP19 also installed. Started with VP7)

@Reyfox - Ok, so yours are the same as mine, as I would expect if using the default template. One last thing for me to try would be to try your Vegas Preferences. If you could export your preferences (Options\Export Preferences), then I can try importing them and give it another try. I would have to change the use of the graphics card to my own, otherwise use anything specific you have configured. If that still does not help me, then it must be something to do with this newer AMD GPU. In the end I am satisfied with my work around of using the 'Low Latency' option

@John-Callahan I tried your clips rendering default AVC-VCE w/vp22 b250 using an amd 6900xt gpu. I see allot of stuttering in the render if I give them 3sec crossfades into one another. But same as you, no stuttering if I set the preset to low latency.

Looks like the low latency setting creates the smallest file by using only a single gop for the whole thing. I also tried default HEVC-VCE and that was clean as a whistle with a more edit-friendly gop histogram : 6 @ 25 : 1 @ 97 : 1 @ 73 : 2 @ 25 : 1 @ 49 : 1 @ 25 : 1 @ 121 : 3 @ 25 : 1 @ 193 : 60 @ 25. I started with amd driver v24.5.1 then upgraded to 25.6.1 to see if that changed anything and it did; AVC stuttering was worse after the 1st crossfade but almost gone after the 2nd.

I graded the 1st 2 clips lightly with cgp to get a rough alignment of the highs and lows but the 3d clip changed exposure allot as the camera moved and zoomed so I took a stab at enveloping cgp to even that out a little...

Here's the test project I created:

@Howard-Vigorita and @John-Callahan maybe I am missing something. I see no stuttering in the rendered video (default settings as above) outside of seeing the camera/lens/tripod movement. I just tried the 3 second crossfades.

Since the sample videos were made public, here are the 2 videos I rendered. The first is with 1 sec crossfades, the second with 3 sec crossfades.

1 sec crossfades

3 sec crossfades

@Howard-Vigorita - Many thanks for also looking into this. I tried your project file with the adjustment added to the 3rd clip. However, this also produces stutter artifacts in the rendered video. I uploaded the video using the default template (3 clips.mp4) as well as the low latency version (3 clips_low_latency.mp4):

ForVegasPro22RenderIssue

What I find strange is that no matter the setup or changes made to mitigate the artifacts, the render progress always indicates the same amount of expected file size (see below):

However, for rendered results with the artifacts the size is larger (672Mb instead of 564Mb). Whereas, the low-latency version is exactly as expected (564Mb).

Also strange is the preview window does not show what is actually being written to the final video. Otherwise, we would see that the rendering was not going as expected. This seems to be an issue between Vegas and the GPU asked to assist in the render process. The fact with this stuttering is that X seconds of frames are being repeated. This means that a block of frames is being written over and over again whilst the actual timeline frames are lost and at some point the video catches up, but too late as we have already lost the original video.

For you as well as @Reyfox, each has a different AMD GPU than mine (RX 9070). Perhaps Vegas needs to be able to test to accommodate for each new AMD GPU released.

In the end I am OK with the low latency workaround, but to me this should be fixed my Vegas. As I mentioned in previous comments, I have used Wondershare and DaVinci Resolve to create simple videos using these 3 clips without any artifacts and each system utilizes GPU acceleration.

@Reyfox - I also tried your preferences, but that did not change anything.

@John-Callahan sometimes issues can be with specific hardware. I have Boris FX Continuum Complete 2025.5. I always use something from Boris in most of my videos. For me, it is a stellar product that is well supported. But, with I used their Title Studio, it would cause a hard computer crash corrupting the GPU driver in the process. I contacted them and they said the issue was specifically with the 6000 series GPU's and they were working closely with AMD to resolve the issue. They reported that the 7/9000 series had no issues. Go figure.

They said they will let me know when something comes up and that they are hoping that AMD will include a fix in their next GPU driver update.

Your GPU is really new, and you are, as far as I know, the only one around here that has one, so you are a trailblazer of sorts. I do hope that something will be done, because it is a GPU I've been looking at myself.
