Can't Open Color Grading Panel

William-Conner wrote on 11/4/2024, 9:12 PM

I am using Vegas 21 and following the tutorial on You Tube for using color grading: It tells me to highlight the video segment I want to work with, and I do this. Then it says I should click the Color Grading icon. I do this and the Color Grading Panel does not fully open. The titles of the panel sections appear across the bottom of the screen or, if that is already the case, they disappear the next time I tap the icon. Does anyone know why this happens and if I need to do something different?

Hi John. Thank you for the video. I watched it, and once I did, I thought that perhaps I didn't put the cursor on the track like you did, even though I highlighted it. My video is only a few seconds long so it would have been easy to highlight the track, but then not put the cursor in the video.

Unfortunately, this didn't help. When I clicked the color grading from this position as you encouraged, the same thing happened that I described before.

A message said something about clicking tools>video>color grating, so I did so. Unfortunately, color grating was locked as before.

Thanks again,

Liam

  1. Please state your screen resolution and font scaling.
  2. Are you able to drag the panel to a different location on the screen by grabbing it by the Title area that you can see?

Hi John: Thank. I just saw this. I gave up earlier and lived with the imperfect color. However, I do want to gain the best understanding I can for future editing, so I will provide this info soon in the hopes that you can help me resolve this: Thanks, Liam

@William-Conner It sounds like it's probably opening but not where it's supposed to be on-screen where you can see it all. One thing you can try is to delete the Vegas CGP window layout. Go to View, Windows Layouts, Organize Layouts to do that. While you're there make sure the layouts folder location is for vp22 and not some other version. When you restart Vegas the layout will be recreated the next time you open CGP, hopefully where you can see it.
