The internal option isn't easily found. This old thread may help https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/audio-transition-curve-type-to-default--116176/#ca721698

I have no internal options that start with eDef. I'm on V19.

@wilri001 When I run vp19 build 651 anything that starts with eDef disappears from visibility if I use the internal settings search capability. Kind of strange. But I sometimes see eDef settings as soon as I eyeball it on startup. If you don't see eDefEnvAudioASRType there's another way I found to set it to audio clip-fade type number 4 which is what I like. I did a preferences export and then inserted a line below <Preferences> with notepad so it looks like this at the top:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Preferences>
<Pref ID="eDefEnvAudioASRType" TYPE="AS_INT">4</Pref>

Then I imported the edited file. Unfortunately, values of 1, 2, and 4 are the only ones that seem to work for me.

I tried adding this preference to the exported preferences and importing, but it didn't change the default fade type.
And those other options don't effect the fade type when you draw a fade at the end of an event.

I found the eDefEnvAudioASRType (if that's the right thing) in the internal preferences and changed the value to 4, but it didn't change the fade-out type even after a new split.

Ok wait - when I newly dragged a video from the explorer to the timeline it DID use fade type 4. So that's good. I don't know if there's a way to apply it to video that's already on the timeline.

@Clayton-Pixton For events that are already on the timeline, you can use "Selectively Paste Event Properties": https://help.magix-hub.com/video/vegas/en/content/topics/copying_event_attributes.htm

Using VEGAS Pro 22 build 194 & VEGAS Pro 21 build 208.

Wow, cool, thank you! I noticed it only works when the source clip has a fade of some length more than zero. No fade length doesn't work. Thanks again!

You can always use a script...
