Canon R5 4K 120fps Slow-Mo footage issue in VP17

Download link here to the test sample footage supplied by Canon Ambassador Moc Nguyen.

The top is from VP16, the bottom from VP17.

The footage is already conformed to 29.97 fps, original was shot at 120 fps.

I only pulled the 1st file in. Worked fine in v16 but v17 crashed as soon as I clicked on it... couldn't even get it onto the timeline. Looks like Vegas doesn't like the transcoder used to convert it. I assume it was transcoded because the original footage didn't work either. Are any of those other files original footage?

@howardv Hi Howard, not sure what you mean, I just assumed that its all original footage? I checked the Mediainfo of all seven clips and they appear identical.

The codec ID is the same for all 7 clips .. " mp42 (mp42/hvc1/CAEP)"

I guess looking at it that it needs a Canon clog lut. Very disappointing the way VP16 is still a more solid version.

@JN- Thought you meant it was transcoded from 120 fps. Looks similar to the mediainfo from a 1dx mark 3 I tried right before I got build 452 of v17 in this thread.

To prevent crash, checkmark on 'Enable Legacy' HEVC decoding via IntelQSV' and make sure it uses IntelQSV.

Set to Nvidia NVDEC gone crash instantly.

Unfortunately, it still shows not correct.

Still trying finding out how to...

no idea... this codec seems very challenging.

So far I only able to watch it via VLC Media Player... haven't found any other alternative.

@set Indeed. I found a link from Dpreview to some Canon site 1d and 3d luts, applied them in vp16, looks better but the yellow image is weird, just clearer with the lut applied, I thought it might be a form of watermark, but probably not.
