Vegas Pro 15 is disappointing, no change, always the same codecs in export aside the Magix codec, always limitation for export resolution, no export in 8k, nothing changed ... Disappointing! I go to Adobe, there is too much, Vegas is really dead since version 13, the suite is really zero. Good luck, you lose a customer who loved vegas once!

What encoders do you need? Why do you need 8k export?
Expected something special, improvements and new features but nope, it's just the same old VEGAS with a thin coat of fresh paint. What a letdown. No intuitive composite sequences, output encoders are still the same. I guess MAGIX doesn't want VEGAS to compete with their true flagship NLE, VIDEO PRO X. All they need to do is take the good bits of each and make a monster app, it doesn't make sense why they have to keep both and yet VEGAS is way better but needs some features that are already in VIDEO PRO X.

What features exactly?
Glovercover created this UI concept that appeals to what I am talking about.
Composite Sequences. All I need is a tab to create another sequence and have all my sequences appear in a smart bin. I can double click on the composite sequence if I need to make changes to it and it opens on the timeline. At the moment, I have to drag a .VEG file into the timeline, which is really not the best workflow.
Now we have the list of features, we can see that this is a tenuous new release at the very best. Selectively pasting event attributes is very welcome, but it is hardly a revolutionary or expensive feature to add. The LUTs is an essential new feature, but it has been some time coming. We already had degrees of support for QSV and GPU support in the codecs, so hopefully this 'new feature' is actually going to having some impact on the editing side of the application. I somehow suspect that it will not mean GPU support for all of the built in plugins or codecs though, and it is listed under 'Hardware/Capture/Export', so I think what we are getting is just a feature that was never delivery properly in earlier versions of Vegas being pushed as an old feature now it (might) work a little better.
'Instant freeze frame creation' - Is that really a new feature worth a chunk of the upgrade price? It is good to have but again, we are not talking about world changing stuff here. The ACES 1.0 support is welcome. Hopefully there is a lot under the hood that is fixed and it is just a bad features document. I would hope that the codec support and performance has radically improved as that is where Vegas really falls over time and again. H265 was absolutely essential for this release, and I would be interested to see what the performance is like.
And has the Dolby Pro AC3 support returned!?!?!?!?!?
Because the 8k is the next generation of videos and adobe is already exporting in 8k in HEVC and Vegas Pro 15 no, nor version 14. A shame not to be more up to the level than the others who have competed. Even on Premier Pro we can export in any resolution we want, without limitation in QuickTime and MP4, Vegas Pro = no. I say that Vegas Pro is moving in a direction that will make lose a lot of people who loved this software. I say it, and I know I'm right!
GPU rendering with Pascals and Maxwells still makes the program crash. Tested some renders with a 950M and a 1070. Here's the result:
You should do something about this problem since you're promoting this " brand new " VP15 with features like: << Hardware acceleration from modern graphics cards and Intel QSV >> on the official product's page.
With the QSV support of my Intel i7-6700k UHDp30 is exported to UHDp30 HEVC nearly in realtime ! Newer CPUs will even do better ;)
This sounds promising at least.
And has the Dolby Pro AC3 support returned!?!?!?!?!?
Unfortunately No.
If that is true then it is an utter disgrace. I need the Dolby Pro AC3 codec. I can't be using kludges and workarounds with old releases to try and get back the functionality. We had assurances that it would be appearing in the 14 series at no additional cost to users. If we are really at Vegas 15 and still the codec is missing I just do not know what they are thinking. It is an essential codec for anyone that wants to use AC3 properly.

Your design proposal is what I expected to see in Vegas Pro 15. That design "Vegas Pro 15 Concept" looks great
"As an owner of older versions of Sony VEGAS Pro and Movie Studio, you can upgrade to the latest version any time, at a special price."
Is Vegas Pro 15 free for Magix Vegas 14 owners ?
Best,
Ole
They were still actively marketing upgrades to Vegas 14 as being available as late as last week, so I would hope that they would offer at least recent upgraders a free move to Vegas 15. Even though I got email after email claiming that there were sale prices on upgrades, I was only ever offered the exact same pricing, so if they go by past form I think you will be able to get the 'special price' for some time. I would hold fire and not rush into the upgrade and wait to see what the general feedback is, unless you have a critical need for one of the new features.
