So far , preview seems faster, my biggest issue...but I need more real world testing. I miss a motion tracker for sure.
Just a few cosmetic complaints on my part:
* Audio and Video tracks are STILL too similar. Can you please make them look distinguably DIFFERENT?
* Track motion active / not active STILL has the 2 same almost indistinguishable colors - blue and slightly lighter blue. I can't believe I'm the only one having trouble and having to look twice to notice the diffrence. red / blue, yellow / pink whatever , but please, 2 different colors.
* The new event design makes no sense to me. From a certain track hight on downwards, it's not possible to grab the fade corners anymore. For that, the track needs to be much higher than it used to, as the active event part is now reduced to fit under a fixed colored info bar, infos that used to simply be embedded in the event. Additionally, that fixed colored bar doesn't change its size, but changing the track hight now makes the thumbnails disappear...Why? It now also looks as if the alpha level bar is at the middle instead of at the top.
* the cursive "fx" ..is plain ugly. I'd prefer a symbol like before.
* track colors still limited to the same weird 8??
Oh, and V15 crashed as soon as I started firefox to go online...never happened before.
Not sure if this makes me want to upgrade tbh. Probably need more tetsing. As fgar as the price goes - I think it's hefty. Not even a grace period for those who upgraded to V14 recently...not very nice.
It's about 1 year and 6 months since we've paid for Magix vegas Pro 14 - and we'll have to pay again - it will not be me! I have the Studio Version of Davinci resolve 14 - Goodbye Magix!

On that point I'm with you. The new design also wasts vertical space in the time line area. The new top part should be transparent and let the thumbs be visible in this area.

That is strange. Running one application should not really cause another to crash in a protected memory system. Could it possible be due to a problem with releasing locks on files if you leave the Vegas application window to start Firefox?

There was a post from Mattias recently suggesting that users who have recently upgraded to 14 should contact support. They were still pushing the 14 upgrades after the Vegas 15 release date had been announced via both email and in the application via net notify. I still to this day have not got an email advising of Vegas 15's release. It is all very shifty.

For me and I have always said, the end of Vegas is since version 13. The suite, 14 and now the 15, they no longer serve anything: same codecs, and others .. Just what has changed, the Interface design and some OFX plugin simply. The rest always the software crashing and so on. It will be the same for me, I will not pay this version. Vegas is fucked and really dead. Stop this software completely and create in a new and much more complete, and that really works. I'm fed up, I go to First Pro which is more complete. Farewell Goodluck
Or even that top line can be optional!!!!! I do not like it very much, although I understand its practical meaning!

Is there any option to revert to the old design?
Absolutely a showstopper for me. I just realized the thumbs are practically invisible unless you make the track far too high to have a clean working space that lets you see all of your tracks. Working with the track hight I normally use, I now only see colored bars. Totally unusable.
Seriously, I wonder if the designers actually have to practically use and work with their design...

I think that is highly unlikely. If they actually had people in their office producing videos full time, they would surely have taken the application in a different direction. It seems as if it is the blind leading the blind.
Seems there is : New layout option enables user to switch back to the VEGAS Pro 14 default layout, including revealing all buttons in the hamburger menu system

I switched to "vegas pro 14 default" in the view menu. It doesn't change anything except the workspace layout it seems.
Preview performance in VP15 doesn't seem to have improved much. A 4k file with only one magic bulletfx looks doesn't seem to play nicely, it's about the same as in VP14. My computer is a 36core/72threads dual cpu, Quadro K5000 and 192GB ram inside and all ssd pro's from samsung so it's probabely not the pc that is not up to the task :-). The whole pc even went blank when I closed VP15 and I had to restart, never happened in 14
Because the 8k is the next generation of videos and adobe is already exporting in 8k in HEVC and Vegas Pro 15 no, nor version 14. A shame not to be more up to the level than the others who have competed. Even on Premier Pro we can export in any resolution we want, without limitation in QuickTime and MP4, Vegas Pro = no. I say that Vegas Pro is moving in a direction that will make lose a lot of people who loved this software. I say it, and I know I'm right!
Exporting in 8K in HEVC ... sounds interesting. Where do you need that? Where are 8K cameras - I do not see that by now really.
I think the preparation for HDR - based on ACES - is more important for the future.
