Disable GPU accel without opening VP18

Kurt-Weber wrote on 8/5/2022, 1:04 PM

So, Magix and I are trying to get my Pro 18 to initiate. Since I have been supported by Magix via email, I'll leave the past details out for now. Suffice to say that Pro 18 will not initiate on my new PC. Please note that I have already been exhausting the typical solutions PLUS a couple of tricks from Magix.

Vegas crashes on splash window while attempting to initiate GPU acceleration. It may be looking for NVidea, which is not installed in my new PC.

Is there a way to disable GPU acceleration "outside" of Vegas? I can't figure out how to disable this because Vegas won't load! Google search had some regedit suggestions, but they don't work.

I have Intel UHD 770 graphics installed. W10 Home, intel i7 12700 and 32 RAM.

Again, I will say that Magix is being helpful and I've already posted/contacted them, but this appears to be unique. Suggestions welcome.

I'm going to assume you already tried updating your drivers... ?

Have you tried a full reset of VEGAS? To do so, hold ctrl+shift while opening VEGAS.

@Kurt-Weber
Go to Device Manager/Display Adapters/
If you have more than one you can disable one through rightclick.
Never both at the same time!

The only graphics I have installed in the current machine is Intel 770. My OLD machine had the NVidea which, to me, it appears that Vegas is trying to find. I need to disable Vegas from seeking NVidea accelerated OR I guess get it to lock in to the Intel.

Resetting is not the same as an install. Resetting brings the installation of the program back to point zero after the first installation.

Okay, tried that. Here's a screenshot of the crash. I haven't heard from Magix what the "TODO" windows mean, but VP definitely crashes on the GPU accelerated.

@Kurt-Weber You might need to do a video driver clean-out with the free DDU if you haven't already. The latest version also has a check-box to disable auto-install of drivers via WindowsUpdate which is highly recommended. Once you lose old Nvidia and Intel graphics drivers, try the new Intel 101.3222 specifically designed for 11th and 12th gen igpus... that one works for me with the uhd750.

ps: if you cloned the c: drive from another machine, you should also consider downloading everything motherboard related from the manufacturer of your new motherboard... especially chipset, firmware, driver, and bios updates.
