@wwaag

Do you have a GoTo Region/s so I can select a Region from a dropdown List of my own Regions?

jetdv wrote on 2/20/2023, 11:07 AM

@Grazie, you mean like this?

It's not a dropdown list but will let you select any number.

Grazie wrote on 2/20/2023, 11:16 AM

@jetdv - Nice, but not the whole encalada or picnic. I've got descriptive Words that define my Region, I don't want to prolong my agony by needing to refer to a Number . . etc . . A Drop Down Table of my Regions would be one answer. The OTHER bigger solution would be to have Regions as part of our lovely Project Notes?!? Now, that would be a special solution.

jetdv wrote on 2/20/2023, 11:40 AM

@Grazie Yeah, that was just a quick example to show how a form can be used in a script. Designed to learn how to add the form rather than actual functionality. But it could be modified fairly easily to show a list of regions in a dropdown instead of selecting by number. Try this one. Just put the Find Regions By Name.dll file in [my documents]\Vegas Script Menu

@jetdv - I’m sure it’s valuable example to all those Scriptiligists out there. OK, will that DLL DROPDown allow me to click on it and Highlight that Chosen Region?

jetdv wrote on 2/20/2023, 11:59 AM

Select the one you want from the dropdown box and click on Find. That region will then be selected.

@jetdv - Selected how? Highlighted as a Loop Region?

jetdv wrote on 2/20/2023, 12:19 PM

@Grazie The region is selected. It will be blue. The selection area is around that loop region.

@jetdv - My PC wont allow me to D/L your zip - arrgghh.. 😠

Grazie wrote on 2/20/2023, 12:23 PM

@jetdv - Aw man!! That's exactly what I'm wanting, 'cept my PC is playing Gatekeeper with your ZIP.

"Do you have a GoTo Region/s so I can select a Region from a dropdown List of my own Regions?"

No, I don't. It appears that @jetdv has granted your wish. I wish I were that quick.

@Grazie I made it a zip file because most computers don't like downloading dll files directly. I just tried it and go this:

click on the "!" and you get this:

Grazie wrote on 2/20/2023, 12:29 PM

@jetdv - Stunning! Thats exactly what I'm after. Thank you thank you!

@wwaag - And you, dear man, your time will come - I promise. 😎 🍺🍺

Grazie wrote on 2/20/2023, 12:34 PM

@jetdv - A tweak, please . . pretty please?? Can it be made to select that Region AND that Region to almost fill the Timeline? Presently I do get a BLUE Highlight of the region, but it isn't in my View, I need to further search up and down the T/L. Please?

@wwaag - definitely not a contest. I still had the source code from the project from 2 years ago (literally - that tutorial was released Feb 22, 2021) so I just removed the number box and added a combo box and changed a few lines of code.

And while we have 2 amazing Vegas Pro scriptwriters on the line... Is there a script to join 2 adjacent regions? For use after Scene Detection VFX, Create Regions, where an unwanted scene change is included giving 2 regions.

jetdv wrote on 2/20/2023, 1:02 PM

@douglas_clark, that can only be done if no frames were cut between the two regions. Then the solution is to delete the event to the right and extend the event on the left to fill the hole. I do have an "Unsplit Media" tool in Excalibur. You can also select the two events, right click them, and choose "Event Heal" from the menu that opens. "Event Heal" was added in VEGAS Pro 15.

wwaag wrote on 2/20/2023, 1:10 PM

@douglas_clark

You can do this in Vegasaur for regions that are either adjacent or overlapping.

@jetdv - Nearly there - There's no bringing into View, I still need to Scrub up and down the TL.

jetdv wrote on 2/20/2023, 1:23 PM

Make sure you exit and restart VEGAS after copying over the new DLL file. If you don't see a checkbox, you're not on the correct version.
