@Adam-Wicher been following this as i want to see you get this fixed, sorry can't help but i found that file interesting

I have an RTX 3090 this is what mine looks like

VEGASHeman wrote on 11/16/2021, 5:59 PM

Thanks, so the log indicates an error encountered in reading the file.

One final thing - can you delete that file (So4HardwareDetectionOutput.xml) - restart VEGAS, and then post the contents of the FileIO log again?

Adam-Wicher wrote on 11/17/2021, 1:17 AM

@VEGASHeman  I did as you wanted:

VEGASHeman wrote on 11/17/2021, 9:03 AM

Thanks, that indicates a crash while trying to detect the hardware at the start of VEGAS. Can you see a 'So4HardwareDetectionError.log' in c:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\MAGIX\FileIO\1.0 in 'C:\Users\Tutodz\AppData\Local\MAGIX\FileIO\1.0\' folder?

Adam-Wicher wrote on 11/17/2021, 9:05 AM

No, folder is empty

VEGASHeman wrote on 11/17/2021, 9:18 AM

OK, thanks. So for some reason the hardware detection process is crashing on your machine when launched from VEGAS, but not when you run it directly from the command line (as you tried yesterday). We need to investigate this path and try and find the cause - I will get back to you once we either have a solution, or some other ideas to test out. Thank you for your patience and help.

VEGASHeman wrote on 11/17/2021, 9:21 AM

One final question for now - what language version of VEGAS are you using, and what is the language version of Windows?

Adam-Wicher wrote on 11/17/2021, 9:21 AM

Sure, thanks for the ideas!

I'll be waiting

Adam-Wicher wrote on 11/17/2021, 9:22 AM

I'm using VEGAS PRO 19 english version. I have WIN 10 HOME EDITION

VEGASHeman wrote on 11/17/2021, 9:24 AM

Is the language settings for your Windows 10 Home Edition also English (you can find this by going to Control Panel, and searching for "Language Settings")?

Adam-Wicher wrote on 11/17/2021, 9:26 AM

my WINDOWS has Polish version of language

Adam-Wicher wrote on 12/21/2021, 6:48 PM

Hello, @VEGASHeman. New update .458 nothing change in my problem. Is there any light on this case?

VEGASHeman wrote on 12/21/2021, 7:03 PM

@Adam-Wicher: We have added an internal preference to b458 to bypass the automatic hardware detection - I was planning to contact you after some more internal QA. But you can go ahead and try it out now:

1. Go to Internal Preferences (use Shift key when clicking on Options - it is the last entry)

2. Search for 'Enable hardware encoder/decoder detection at startup'; set the value to FALSE (default is TRUE).

3. Restart VEGAS

With this preference disabled, VEGAS will no longer launch the hardware detection process, and instead rely on the old behavior. The prior experiments I had asked you to conduct did not reveal any issues with your drivers, so this should, in theory, allow you to see the NV rendering options again. Please let me know how it turns out.

Bingo! Now it works!

2. Suchen Sie nach 'Hardware-Encoder/-Decoder-Erkennung beim Start aktivieren'; setzen Sie den Wert auf FALSE (Standard ist TRUE).

3. VEGAS. neu starten

If this Einstellung Deaktiviert IST, VEGAS Den Hardwareerkennungsprozess Nicht Mehr Und Sich Verlassen Sich Auf Das Alte Verhalten Gestartet.

Perfect, the settings finally returned. Well done! Merry Christmas!

@VEGASHeman Hello, I want to consult that is there any advantage to use the new hardware detection process compared with the old behavior? Thanks!

RogerS wrote on 12/24/2021, 4:50 AM

The only advantage would be if it can't find your GPU, I'd think.

VEGASHeman wrote on 12/24/2021, 1:21 PM

@lan-mLMC: RogerS is correct - this is not really a new detection process, but rather a way to disable the auto-detection process. Going forward, we want to make the auto-detection more full-proof, and also offer better integration within VEGAS to help diagnose the situations where it fails. But this new preference is a band-aid for the interim period for those users where it fails to work (I am aware of only two users who contacted us, though there may be more out there).

By turning off the auto-detection, you increase the risk of VEGAS crashing or freezing when using bad GPU drivers, and also it removes the ability of VEGAS to automatically use the right hardware decoder (basically, we go back to how things used to be prior to VP18).

you are solving the same problem as I have with the GTX970 card

Hi, in 636 version this solution doesn't work. Again I don't have the NV encoder rendering option

K.G_Media wrote on 6/1/2022, 6:57 AM

diese Version 636 funktioniert bei mir auch nicht mehr. Gibt es schon eine Lösung. No nvenc option. No nvenc in datei i/o

VEGASHeman wrote on 6/1/2022, 12:24 PM

@Adam-Wicher, @K.G_Media: We have changed the way the automated hardware detection works in this update. Could you please reset the internal preference ( 'Enable hardware encoder/decoder detection at startup') to TRUE, and see if that helps?

Adam-Wicher wrote on 6/2/2022, 3:35 AM

I tried. It's even worst, because last time I was able to render with an Intel built-in card. Now there is neither Intel or Nvidia.
