What I'm most looking forward to is the definitive fix for the memory leaks tied to the LUT Filter in VEGAS Pro 22, along with a solution for some low memory errors that began with VEGAS Pro 21 and its adjustment events. Resolving these two critical stability bugs in VEGAS Pro 23 would be a major milestone. This would mean I could finally settle on one VEGAS Pro version without having to jump between VEGAS Pro 21 and 22 to work around persistent bugs. :)

Number 1 is STABILITY. I used to occasionally get "white out" screens. The video/screen would lock up but, ironically, the audio would keep on playing. Stopping playback would then cause the screen to white out. A lot of hard work has gone into eliminating this issue.

bitman wrote on 9/9/2025, 2:23 AM

@jetdv Stability is indeed Number 1, new features are also nice, but stability should always rule. That said, a perhaps less highlighted, but very useful new feature is the ability in VP23 is to dock your editing windows such as the preview window, FX window, explorer window etc.. left/right from the timeline or even under the timeline. This is a massive improvement for those with wide /ultrawide monitors or for people who like to edit "vertical" videos (I am personally not a fan for vertical videos, but the social media / smartphone era seems to demand it more and more).

I'm hoping that -

Vegas Core Engine 1.0

The new VEGAS Core Engine brings state of the art technology to VEGAS Pro, providing efficient video playback and rendering and a new pipeline for processing video effects.

When I'm editing I have lets say 50 pieces of media on the timeline, these might get trimmed & cut into 100 separate events, each event gets a 15frame crossfade between them, Vegas won't play these fluidly without repeat loop plays of that section, this slows down & ruins the flow of editing,. The first few seem to play ok but as I work my way down the timeline these crossfades play as hard cuts rather than crossfades & need to be loop played before they play as fades. I guess only time will tell after upgrading to VP23 if this has been improved.

Also -

Improved sort functionality in the Explorer window

I hope this means Thumbnails can be sorted by date or Type rather than just by Name as it is now.

In VP 23, SonyAVC can no longer be selected for rendering?

All formats still exist. Use the Filter menu > Show All

vegas Pro 23 shows ProRes 4444 graphics as white (VP22 OK)

)

In VEGAS Pro 22, my ProRes 4444 file displays text colors correctly (see attached screenshot).
However, in VEGAS Pro 23, the exact same file appears only in white, and all color information is lost (see attached screenshot).
Project settings are the same in both versions.
Is this a known issue with ProRes 4444 handling in VP23, or am I missing a new setting related to color management?

Got it! Upgrade perpetual license purchase went smoothly, connecting to my Magix account to confirm eligibility. Then the confirmation email with the serial number arrived almost immediately.

.... after installation the AI doesn't work

Just finished the install. Never did it this way before because I always used the direct links which I don't see up yet. But the link in the confirmation email was a quite brisk download which is an improvement over past experience. The DLM download was totally different. Not one big DLM but apparently 8 little ones. But it was all automatic... and ran a separate install for each item after it downloaded them all:

My old AI Torture Test works so the DLM install is apparently functional.

I don’t know about you, but personally I’ve been editing for 2 hours with no crashes or freezes. The preview has never been this smooth. I honestly think I can say this is the best version of VEGAS Pro so far, the software feels so clean!

andyrpsmith wrote on 9/9/2025, 9:42 AM

The updated/improved AV1 options only include CPU render not the faster GPU. Also it would be nice to be able to modify templates to choose a different sound codec than AAC (AC3 for example) or even make your own template.
