I have not noticed threads I've posted and deleted to being promoted or bolded as new. Posts do seem to generate instant email notices to OPs and anyone linked, however, which causes confusion when subsequently deleted.
EDIT: just did a test post and delete to this older thread:
That post has a hidden comment from a spammer. Moderators can delete or hide comments but we generally hide them so evidence remains if needed later. I'll ask the forum developers if hidden comments can be ignored in the post sorting.
So hidden comments leave the thread in the sort order.
There's quite a new feature on the forum whereby a new user's posts/comments are automatically hidden until the user is approved by a moderator. That's the reason why there is less spam on the forum than before.
I'm told that the sorting problem is only happening for those auto-hidden comments from new users (not comments that mods choose to hide), and that the devs are working on a fix for it.
Quite recently deleted comments appear to revert to a previous sorting, possibly, due to caching.
That's beautifully ambiguous 😏. Should I read it with a comma after "recently", or with a hyphen between "recently" and "deleted"?
Not sure what you're getting at, John. All seems to work correctly in your screen recording. As far as I can tell, all is well with deleted comments. It's just auto-hidden comments that caused a problem, but it looks like the devs have already fixed it since I can't find the offending post on the first 3 pages.
Yeah, we noticed that too. It also has an auto-hidden comment from a spammer on it. So the issue is not fixed yet. I wonder why the first such post ('image stabilization..') seems to have 'sunk'.
