Randomly Can't move the GAIN Slider on a clip.

gregg-cerenzio wrote on 12/19/2024, 3:19 PM

While editing, suddenly, the little GAIN slider, where you grab the blue dash, and pull it down, or back up... will stop working. Once it stopes. My project is trash, and I have to start over. Nothing I do, makes it work again, other than deleting the track, and starting over, which could be 100 edits lost. ALL the other sliders work still, just the ONE in the ONE section of the track, stops working. SO, say I'm editing a 30 min video... I make 25 or so cuts, edits, etc, in the 1st ten min. All those cuts audio sliders will work. Suddenly the remaining 20 min of that video, the slider stops working. No way to get it back. I've re-shot entire segments, only to have it happen on the new file as well. Suddenly, the volume of the remainder of that track is also blasting loud.

Here you can see, the highlighted track in Yellow, is missing the blue GAIN notch and line. to the right of it, I re-pasted the file, to start over, and, you'll see the blue notch and line, is back Screenshot (1170).png

@gregg-cerenzio It's a bug that has been reported before, but is still unresolved: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/found-a-bug-please-try-to-reproduce-it--146649/

To restore to a normal state, select both the faulty events and an extra event with 100% gain, and then drag the gain of the extra event to 0%. This can solve the problem temporarily.

OMG, I've been working on this for almost 9 hours, trying to find a solution. I tried SO MANY THINGS.... This worked. Thank you so much.

@gregg-cerenzio Please try the beta build.

How do you get Beta builds? My 23 has a game-breaking bug, where the entire U/I stops working, but I can still edit. However, it's impossible to edit, cause there are no markers and such

@gregg-cerenzio According to my memory, the beta build here refers to 22 build 248. It was initially released as a beta build on this forum and later became an official version. However, it was later replaced by 22 build 250 due to the problem of crashing when copying keyframes.

At present, VP23 hasn't released any beta builds. If you have upgraded to 23 build 356 which has many issues, please temporarily revert to build 302.

Actually, the last vp23 beta that produced favorable results was vp23 b302 which was initially posted as a public beta and became an official release after a couple of weeks of commentary as indicated in the announcement history:

Vp23 b356 was later posted and withdrawn after not being as well received. In my projects, however, I find b356 the most usable vp23 build as long as I refrain from Maximize Track Height on tracks with envelopes.
