[Showcase] Complex Video Wall Script for Magix Vegas

W-Music wrote on 12/18/2020, 4:29 AM

Hey everybody.

I have been cutting Multi-Track Music Videos for some years now in Vega Pro. I really like its workflow and I don't plan on swapping. But the Process of setting up those "video wall"-style videos has always been a bit of a pain for me. I used to just delete videos out of old projects and use the track layout of those, or create templates, but with changing versions of VEGAS that has led to a lot of crashes. Starting fresh always seems like the best bet to get working and having it run well. So I wanted a script to create the template for me.

I have seen VegaSaur and DaviTools, but the former is in a larger tool and seems to work only by using videos and the latter seemed out of date. So, during Lockdown I decided to finally make myself a script.

I usually create my videos by creating a video wall template (lots of Tracks with a color clip at the beginning. TrackMotion position and size plus the crop on the color clip add together to the size of the resulting video) and then copy the synchronized videos onto the tracks where I want them to be. The script makes setting up that template a breeze and includes "feature"-tracks that line up with the video wall but are double or triple in size.

Here is a demo video:

This is me just reaching out to see how many people, if any, are interested in such a script, whether it be talking about it, suggesting new features or just wanting one.

I don't (currently) have a use case - but it looks really good.
Congratulations on your performance!👍👍👍

Seems very nice automation tool !

Although I just finish one of my virtual choir, love to try experimenting with it for later.

If I remember someone is looking for similar automation tool... let's see if this may help him.

Definitely would like one!

I do weekly 'virtual choir' walls, with anywhere from 10 to 30 singers, and setting up a wall grid manually each time is a time-consuming pain. And I agree with your comments re Vegasaur and DaviTools.

So when will your tool be available? By the end of the year?😁

Thanks, W-Music!

Hey guys, thanks for your interest! At the moment I have quite the list of things I want to add and features I want to include, so I have no specific timeframe in mind of when it would be done or available as Version 1.0. There is also some kinks to iron out. But I want to gladly let you see the progress:

I usually edit the videos by using track-templates and then assigning the videoclips to different tracks, varying the track layout/template with the parts of the song. Often using markers. So i implimented a feature that does the copying, cuts to markers, keeps syncronization AND adds the appropriate cropping (see second script in video).

I also want to enable animations, like pulsing to the music or (like in the end of this video) a wave rolling through the videos. This will culminate in being able to animate one track layout/template moving and morphing into another.

If you are interested I could see us working together in the sense that you could get the scripts for free as beta-testers? If so hit me up with a direct message :)

I have also contacted JETDV and if anyone else could also give me some info about extensions vs custom commands to enable me to organize all my scripts into a docked window, that would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jan, sure... let's try experiment this in my real cases - specifically for this test only.

Ok you guys, I am going ALL OUT on this one :D I have used the lockdown since christmas and I am rewriting those scripts into a complete extension. This is my progress until now, featuring only the Track Creator. The extension will later offer features to assign videos to tracks, animate the tracks and transition from one layout to another. I have most of the "how is it possible" figured out and just need to code it all.

Wow - so many unique templates! 👍

And now it has it's own tab - this is gonna be very helpful!

Think I am pretty much finished with the first tab, concerning Track Creation. Here is a demo of all its features in under 5 minutes.. (It uses some custom presets that need to ship with the extension, if anyone would like to take my hand in creating an installer at a later time ... lol :D )

Have tried testing this script while also help editing my friend's ballet students' virtual online performance, plus combining it with VEGAS' unique Multiply(Mask) compositing ability. This script is very helpful!

Hi everyone! I would love to try this plugin as I too utilize mmultiple picture in picture clips. However, I'm not sure if I'm opening them up correctly. I always get an error when opening it as a script. Would anyone be able to assist me with this?
