unable to change audio folder recording

Hello everyone, I wanted to try recording an audio track with a microphone and the default folder for saving audio files is in "documents" on disk c: but that doesn't suit me. I'll show you a video of my problem, as soon as I want to modify this folder it crashes and closes the application. I'm on VP22, legit and updated version. Thx for your help!

Looks like you're doing it correctly. Only thing I do differently is to also check the box to make it the default for new projects and it always works on all my systems. Does it also crash when you arm a track for recording? Vegas by default lets you change the recording folder when you 1st arm a track for recording in a new project.

Thank you for your response. When I arm a track, it asks me to choose the folder, everything works fine if I leave the default folder in documents on c: but if I choose another destination it closes the program. I just tested with another vegas pro (19) I have exactly the same problem. I don't understand why, I tried different folders, only the default one is accepted and allows me to save. My c: drive is a hard drive for the system I don't want to put data on it.

edit : My c: is an SDD and I have an SSD, it worked to choose a folder on it. On the other hand, any folder on my hard drive that contains my data, for this one it crashes the software, I don't understand lol

@davewire35 Here's how it works for me on an ad hoc basis.

Thank you for your explanatory video! However, this is the way I proceed, oddly enough it works on SSD hard drive folders and not on the classic one and that it closes my app

Maybe it's something to do with drive formatting. I see my laptop came with C: formatted ntsf but I usually format my work and removable drives exFAT and don't have issues with either. Although older win7 software doesn't like writing to exFAT... always thinks the disk is full. There are also some critical firmware updates from ssd makers Sandisk, WD, and Samsung that affect win11. As well as win11 issues with SMB but that usually only affects drive sharing on networks.

I loaded my Windows 11 Pro image with Vegas Pro 22-194 installed and my results were the same as described above. I also recorded audio to a removable disk that was formatted exFAT. I was running a local account, not a Microsoft account.

If Vegas just vanished after trying to access a different drive or folder, maybe something was written into the Reliability History. See this discussion: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/not-responding--142806/#ca893148
