V16 crashes at use of 4K video footage in Trimmer

I have been reading websites since 3 hours now. Memtest still runs. I will have to check next if the bios is exactly what MSI recomends for this procesor. And no, anything that demands performance foprm the procesor makes the PC freeze. Other video rendering probgrams as well.
So far we checked:
correct hardware mounting
compatible hardware
memtest= fine
cinebench graphics test = fine
cinebench rendering = freezes instantly like all other rendering tests
PCmark runs until it starts POV, then freezes
So my conclusion is that graphics card is OK and the problem is located around settings in between mainboard and processor.
Procesor temperatur is not high as well, tried different fan settings and it never goes up. Well, cannot check the temperature right at a freezed pc, only after restarting.
And it seems definitely not to be a Vegas problem. Hope I get not thrown out here discussing offtopic hardware probs.
Memtest is at 96% after more than 15 hours without error.

freezes come often when the cpu Overheats. is it only vegas what freezes or do you have other programs that make such Problems too?

I bet freezes or overheating do not appear within seconds of asking "performance" of rendering a 5 second clip :)

I have bios E7B92AMS.110 installed
MSI says it should be E7B92AMS.100

Should I exchange bios?

Where do they say you should use the older BIOS? 7B92v11 is still there on their site and has been for months.

I'm seeing the BIOS for the 2950X as E7B09AMS.1B0 (in the 7B09v1B.zip). Not quite the same version you stated above.

you can realtime check the cpu temps in AIDA for example. I bet your Windows files will also get damaged when the Computer freezes all the time. i don't have the bios in front of me, so it is hard to tell what can be wrong configured. Your Ram seems ok, i guess is maybe it Comes from wrong bios Settings.

walter-born wrote on 11/3/2018, 3:19 AM

So now. uploaded older Bios from 7B92v10.zip . Settings changed as in picture in Bios:

Cinebench runs through on CPU test, no freezing.

The BIOS link you posted above was for a different model of motherboard than the one in your signature. I can't find anything that says you should install 7B92v10 rather than 7B92v11 (i.e. no CPU/BIOS compatibility chart like the one you posted). Anyway if it's working then great.

The system here in Bangkok for custom builds is generally that the vendor supplying all the components also does the system building. Is that not a possibility where you are? It makes the supplier a lot more accountable. Having said that, my systems always have about 3 fundamental problems with them when I get them home and start using them.

walter-born wrote on 11/3/2018, 5:15 AM

Cinebench and pcmark run well until the end with CPU at 3500Mhz.
I got on the old machine 3222 and on the new 5568, whatever that value says about the performance of the machine.
Solutions where:
Moving hardware in the right spots.
Changing Bios
Setting of correct speed for RAM

Thank you all for your help!

Unfortunately not. Same as before but only with drone Video mp4 files. Will set recording to MOV if that is possible. Have to check on the Mavics I have. But the new function of trimming in the media folder ist working ok instead, so I just use that until maybe a new update enables it better. Would prefer though that the media folder preview can be scaled a little bigger on 4K screen. Scaled to maximum preview is about 5cm wide only.
