VASST Plug-ins for MAGIX Vegas Pro 14.0 (Happy New Year!)

JohnnyRoy wrote on 1/5/2017, 9:51 AM

The VASST plug-ins for Vegas Pro have been modified to work with the MAGIX version of Vegas Pro 14.0. The installers continue to support the Sony versions as well. One installer will install both versions if both Sony and MAGIX software is found on your computer.

You can download the new installers at our VASST Software Download page for the following updated plug-ins:

  • Audit Assistant
  • Event Tool
  • Marker Editor
  • Marker Maker
  • Media Tool
  • Property Assistant
  • Render Assistant
  • Still Motion
  • Stutter Frame
  • Time Warp
  • Voice Assistant
  • ScatterShot 3D
  • Mayhem
  • Caption Assistant
  • Ultimate S Pro 4

If you need updates for CinemaLooks Vol 01 - 13 or TitleStrips Vol 01 - 04 send an email to VASST support and we'll look up your order and send you a new link.

These updates will work with your existing license keys and are free updates for existing license owners. If you already have an older version installed, it will pick up the existing license key and continue to work or, if prompted, just enter your existing license key.

Note that the version number has not changed for the Sony versions of our plug-ins. For example, it is perfectly normal to see version 1.1 in Vegas Pro 14.0 and version 1.0.1 for the same plug-in in Vegas Pro 13.0 or earlier. We did not change the Sony versions of the plug-ins at all so no need to download the update if you are not using the MAGIX version of Vegas Pro 14.

Edit: (2/12/2016) Ultimate S Pro 4 has now been updated.

Thanks for your patience and Happy New Year from VASST,

~jr

If you are running Windows 10 and a blue dialogue resulted after clicking on the VAAST .exe file, there should be a 'more info' (or similar words) link on the LH side of the blue dialogue box.  Click on that link and another dialogue box comes up which allows a 'run anyway' (or similar) selection.  Clicking on 'run anyway' allowed the apps to install, though then I had to go through a similar process with Norton 360.

Many thank JR for updating these programs for VP14 - I especially like the Mayhem app.

I'm going blind. Never saw that box before. Thanks for the heads up. All I saw was the Don't run button.

I've been trying to obtain the free VAAST plugins that were supposed to come with Vegas Pro 13, when I purchased the Vegas Pro 13 and 14 upgrade.  It had a card inside that said it came with Cinema Looks Vol. 1, but no serial #.  Does anyone know if these are still available or how to get them, or is this a legacy thing before the Sony/Magix buyout?

JohnnyRoy wrote on 1/7/2017, 6:56 PM

@Cornico Yea, I didn't zip them at first because it didn't make them any smaller but then I realized that no browser in the world is going to let you download an EXE files so I had to ZIP them all up. More steps for you to unzip these large files but I had no other choice.

Hi! I have the VASST Production Assistant 2.0 which worked fine with Vegas 13 but not in Vegas 14. Is that available for Vegas 14 Pro now as well? I can't find it.

You won't find it. Vegas Pro Production Assistant 2.0 was a work commissioned by Sony and only sold by Sony even though it was developed by VASST for them (i.e., VASST does not sell it). Production Assistant 2.0 only works with Vegas Pro 13.0 and older.

MAGIX has commissioned a new Production Assistant Pro 3.0 which will work with Vegas Pro 14.0 and sold by MAGIX. I assume MAGIX will offer an upgrade price for existing customers but that's up to them. I don't believe it will be a free upgrade. No date has been set for the release yet. We are still working on it.

Hi John. Sorry if I'm being impatient, but how's the timeline for UltimateS in V14?

I'm trying to get used to using V14, but without UltimateS, there's lots of jobs take longer.

JohnnyRoy wrote on 2/12/2017, 9:12 PM

Hi Peter,

We just finished it up this weekend and it's on the Download page of the vasstsoftware.com web site. It is a free upgrade for existing Ultimate S Pro 4 customers.

Enjoy,

~jr

Good stuff JR! 👍👍

JohnnyRoy wrote on 2/12/2017, 9:46 PM

Thanks Nick. Sorry it took so long but there was more code to clean up due to the older code base. I also changed the UI to take on a darker theme and made some of the windows wider and more responsive.

Let me know if anyone finds any problems but it should be pretty solid.

Well done John!

Along with a handful of chums here, I know what it has taken for you get this out for people. You are a consummate professional, and as long as there is Vegas Pro available you would do your outmost and go that extra mile to supply the Customers of VASST with the highest quality of software possible. I can say this as you HAVE assisted me on countless times Off-Forum so much in the past and more recently with your direction over the CUDA8 install.

Thank you John Rofrano - thank you.

Just noticed the 4.2.0 version of Ultimate S. Unfortunately it doesn't install properly on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. It uninstalls the old version and completes the installation process but doesn't show up in the View > Extensions dialogue in either Vegas 13 or 14. I tried rescanning scripts but no joy. Has anyone else had problems with installation? Any tips on how to get this working. One of the downsides to using Vegas 14 was not having Ultimate S. Really want to get this working. Thanks.

KAW, I had this, but just shrugged and reinstalled it. Now working nicely in VP14. What I will say is that it too removed/deleted the older version but I do have Version 4.1.9 in VP13 - VP14 is the 4.2

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble getting Ultimate S Pro installed. One problem might be that when the uninstaller finished, the installer doesn't come to the front of the window stack if there are other windows open and it never really got installed. Try running the installer again and make sure it finishes with displaying the readme file.

Also make sure that Vegas Pro is not running when you install or else it will lock the dll's and they won't get updated. Sometimes Vegas Pro gets stuck in memory even after you exit so it's a good practice to reboot before you install or at least check your Task Manager to make sure that Vegas Pro is not in memory.

Sometimes Windows will install a program and then wait a few seconds and then pop up another window that says that the program did not install correctly do you want to "Reinstall using recommended settings?". You want to select this option. I have no idea why Windows does this but it does and you need to follow it's instructions and reinstall or else the installation will have failed.

If the installation was successful, you should see the following files under these folders:

Vegas Pro 14.0:

%LocalAppData%\VEGAS Pro\Application Extensions\UltimateS4V14.dll

Vegas Pro 13.0 thru Vegas Pro 8.0:

%LocalAppData%\Sony\Vegas Pro\Application Extensions\UltimateS4V8.dll

If you don't see these files for your version of Vegas Pro that would explain why it's not being seen. The questions then is why the installer failed to place them there?

Make sure that you are logged into the Windows account that will be using the software when you install it. You cannot install it as an administrator and then try and use it as another user because %LocalAppData% is local to the user who installed the software so they must be the same as the user who is using the software.
