Vegas 19 Defocus effect - immediate crash, no render

Benedek-Jakab wrote on 8/7/2025, 3:41 AM

Hey! I met this problem recently, and it's very hurting me.

I can not use the defocus effect, even though I have GPU accelerating on, enough ram to power a family of 4, it can't simply render it. I can see it in preview, it works perfectly, but once I want to render it, it stops, writes incredible render times (25-30 minutes to a simple 5 second long mp4 with defocus), then crashes, stops the render. What could be the problem?

Thanks!

The defocus FX in VP19 works fine here - the render on a 22 secs video event took about 48 secs.

Try resetting your VP19 back to its default (factory) settings as outlined here:

Otherwise, what media are you using? Perhaps upload a detailed MediaInfo (a free app) report of the video event - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Also, it would be helpful if you would add your computer's specifications to 'Signature' under your forum profile - as an example, click on the Signature link under this comment.

Your description of your computer's GPU and RAM is cryptic at best.

How about providing more information? Read this LINK if you really want help and answer the questions. Especially which Vegas 19 build, the make/model of your CPU and GPU, how much RAM, and file information. Otherwise, we can be playing "20 questions" going back an forth.

Also, I tried the effect on a UHD 4K 25P and it rendered fine.

@Benedek-Jakab Does it functions ok when not using the GPU?

If a Windows program crashes, there is a good chance there is some information stored in the Reliability History.
