Great How About Some Plugins For HDR :)

You got ACES 1. you have the lut plugin. That offers two workflows for HDR. What else would you suggest?

Desktop: PC AMD 3960X, 24x3,8 Mhz * GTX 3080 Ti (12 GB)* Blackmagic Extreme 4K 12G * QNAP Max8 10 Gb Lan * Resolve Studio 18 * Edius X* Blackmagic Pocket 6K/6K Pro, EVA1, FS7

Laptop: ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED * internal HDR preview * i9 12900H with i-GPU Iris XE * 32 GB Ram) * Geforce RTX 3070 TI 8GB * internal HDR preview on the laptop monitor * Blackmagic Ultrastudio 4K mini

HDR monitor: ProArt Monitor PA32 UCG-K 1600 nits, Atomos Sumo

Others: Edius NX (Canopus NX)-card in an old XP-System. Edius 4.6 and other systems

Logarithmic grading options perhaps to support Cine and LOG profiles.

Plus an ‘Export LUT’ function that can cover a sequence of custom grades to be saved (which could be loaded in a SmallHD for example and used as monitor LUT during the shoot)

my current Win10/64 system (latest drivers, water cooled) :

Intel Coffee Lake i5 Hexacore (unlocked, but not overclocked) 4.0 GHz on Z370 chipset board,

32GB (4x8GB Corsair Dual Channel DDR4-2133) XMP-3000 RAM,

Intel 600series 512GB M.2 SSD system drive running Win10/64 home automatic driver updates,

Crucial BX500 1TB EDIT 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch SSD

2x 4TB 7200RPM NAS HGST data drive,

Intel HD630 iGPU - currently disabled in Bios,

nVidia GTX1060 6GB, always on latest [creator] drivers. nVidia HW acceleration enabled.

main screen 4K/50p 1ms scaled @175%, second screen 1920x1080/50p 1ms.

I was able to produce an HEVC HDR render using the original build of VP16. Whilst my HDR TV would recognise the file, via a memory stick, as an HDR video it did not display it as such. Vegas support told me this would be fixed "in the next update" (307?). Will it now produce an acceptable format ? Will there soon be support for Hybrid Log Gamma ?

The problem I had with Vegas 16 crashing during startup at "building windows" in the initial release and Update 1 is still there in update 2 (build 307) unfortunately.

In other words, VP16 works flawlessly until once in a while it decides to crash and then it crashes again at startup at Building windows. When it happens there is no way to get around it. The computer freezes completely and has to be switched off by force, after which the same thing happens again and again. The next day it may start again working fine, until this starts over.

So stability is not there yet. Besides that, VP16 rocks!

with these constant crashes, freezes etc I'm getting to the point I have to look at an alternative editing software, I would love just to have something that I can sit down edit and get something done without having to go over and over and over the same things time after time....why should we all have to put up with this, i'm quite sure adobe users wouldn't put up with this long lasting saga..... so so so frustrating.

No, this was not a good update for me. It freezes all the time. How can I roll back?

Try to change the GPU drivers for the older ones, it often helps.

yeah that would a 1000 tickets.... got a blue screen yesterday.... this software at the price should not have these issues, started using pro 15 again just to get by for now... at least it works without issues..

In all 3 comments of you, I always read the same ("frustrating", "not happy" etc.), but not even a hint what your problem is in detail. The community and the moderators are eager to help you quickly ... in extreme cases the respective developer and support will contact you directly... but we also need help to help you. Please explain the problem in a separate post in all details.

despite GPU the new video stabilsation is totally bonkers, even if it's not crashing vegas, it's beta at best, not relaible at all, black borders function is buggy, I also observed some strange, weird and ugly acceleration effect in moving/sliding camera footage. At this point you're only killing your nerves using it anyway.

So if have Mercalli that's the better choice, if not use the old vegas stabilsation which does a much better job

With 307 I can no longer import or drag and drop any media of any type, including jpegs. The fix for this previously was to make sure that C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 16.0\Vegas160.exe wasn't running as an admin, but now that no longer works. I did reboot the computer, no luck. Alienware Aurora R7 Windows 10 version 1803, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, 16 gig RAM. It was working with the previous version 251.

Tried uninstalling 307 using the control panel, and reinstall 261. Now Vegas won't start. Then reinstalled 307 and it starts but I have the same problem where I can't import any video or graphics. Both times I installed 307 I initially received a .NET error the first time. Both times I used the task manager to kill it and then it started the second time. At this time I'm dead in the water.

bbgunn wrote on 11/6/2018, 2:11 PM

Managed to fix this. The symptoms were that I could not drag and drop any media whatsover (video, audio, jpg's...) into Vegas 307. Could not import anything. Could not use Vegas's explorer to add to the project. I wound up uninstalling completely using the control panel in Windows 10 (1803). Then manually deleting all vegas and magix folders in program files and also under %appdata%. Then going into the registry and deleting all Magix and Vegas folders and instances. Then running CCleaner. I was then able to install the 307 update. Ran it as an admin. Got a Net Framework error as it was coming up. Closed down vegas. Started it again. No error the second time. Still could not drag from outside of Vegas, but now at least I was able to add media to the project from the Vegas explorer. Then dragged that video to the timeline. Then closed Vegas and opened it. Then I was able to drag from ouitside of Vegas. And yes, I tried these steps incrementally without success. It didn't work until I did all the steps I just described.. Phew! Hopefully this helps someone else if they have a problem...

Good job. And a good REMINDER to other readers that Windows registry and other issues need to be investigated before "finger pointing" at Vegas.

Gerard-Faassen wrote on 11/7/2018, 4:47 AM

The starting problem.
My solution. Rename the map OFX in the map Common files in the map program files. After I did this the program started.

webkeeper wrote on 11/7/2018, 10:33 AM

newly purchased today and crashes at first start. After I removed folder OfxStitch.ofx.bundle  from C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 16.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins  - Vegas 16 b307 started. Not amused for a new Software purchase that crashes on start.

User interface is not sharp in Vegas 16 on Win10.

I was surprised to find that the Vegas interface (both graphics elements and text) are not as sharp as any other program I have in Win10.  It seems fuzzy.  Vegas 14 on Win7 was sharp.  This issue surprises me.  I am using an NVIDIA GeForce 1060 3GB on a quality 2560 X 1440 display and the observation is clear.  I am using 125% display scaling.  I have tried to tweak the True Type font rendition to no effect in Vegas, although this affects other programs.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!
