Is CoreFX Suite, Cleaning & Restoration Suite, VariVerb II, etc. in VEGAS Pro?

Why remove SFP for SFAS? Seems weird, esp. in VEGAS Pro. Would expect SFAS Bundled with Edit and SFP Bundled with VEGAS Pro. Even VEGAS Post only has SFAS...

The new website looks better, but is a lot less intuitive than the older one - particularly the Comparison page.

VST3 Support?

Did they at least update the AAF and FCPX XML Engines for interchange with a DAW?

Primatte Studio is nice, but honestly unless they've updated the Titler I'd have preferred 3D Objects, instead. I can use the Primatte Keyer for free in Fusion 9.

I'm going to have to try a trial to see how the playback performance is. If it's largely the same, then I'm going to have to pass. Doesn't seem like a big update, TBH, but the upgrade for Edit is pretty cheap so that's good. I'd say it's probably worth it for that SKU. Since they removed Sound Forge Pro, there isn't much reason to go for Pro now... Unless for some reason VEGAS Stream is worth it for you.

The Purchase section is really putting the subscription front-and-center.

I guess if audio is all you do... but for those of us that do video, there is plenty of reason to upgrade, such as RAW format support, AI upscaling, text to speech, the stock footage and music library, them finally fixing dynamic RAM preview, etc.

I suppose I will not install audio studio, as I have the SF pro 14

✔️✔️✔️ ... and the difference between SFP14 and SFP15 - the latest release - is marginal.

The difference between SFP13 and 15 is marginal. And the difference between 12 and 15 is mostly down to Metering and a faster VST Scanner. That other stuff is superfluous.

This is less for people who have previous products and more for those buying in. The downgrade form SFP to SFAS really impacts the value proposition of the product, IMO.

They probably saw lots of people upgrading VEGAS to get Sound Forge Pro upgrades at a discount, though :-P

That's basically what I would have done, TBH, Lol.

Some of the Sound Design, Cleanup and Editing stuff SFP can do is impossible with an NLE (or even many DAWs). This is why they allow round-tripping to external audio editors.

Audio is half of video, so when I'm doing video I'm also doing 45-55% audio, unless I'm commissioning that work out to someone else.

Also, I do other work that never touches an NLE, but does touch an audio editor, which is why SFP was - for me - such an attractive value add.

For me subscription features are uninteresting, and I doubt MAGIX's stock content is as good as Adobe's, e.g. A bug fix is not a glowing endorsement for an upgrade (it's just a slap in the face).

Unless the RAW format is ProRes RAW... I mean, even most Resolve users never touch BMR. People there are begging for ProRes RAW support, for obvious reasons.

AI Upscaling: it depends on the quality.

I'm more interested in the under the hood changes that they were saying needed time to do... ... 4-5 years ago (Video Engine, CUDA Support, Playback performance)... and the weird shuffling of value-adding products that made otherwise unnecessary upgrades a decent deal out of their SKUs (Sound Forge Pro, 3D Objects, Mercalli Suite, etc.). I can understand third-party products, but this one is a bit odd...

It is both... ProRes and BM RAW work in 19.

As for you not being sure about the first party software bundle changing, it was posted earlier in this thread why. VEGAS costs less now, so you can't really be expecting them to bundle in software that is worth 3/4 of the asking price on its own.

It's StoryBlocks if I remember. VEGAS 365 members get access to the content provided as part of the subscription price, in addition to the multi-language AI text to speech, and VEGAS hub cloud storage for cellphone videos uploaded via the vegas hub app (I imagine they'll eventually expand that cloud storage to other forms of media as well).

If you purchased Vegas 18 say in the last two months would the upgrade to 19 be free or heavily discounted?

I would also like an answer to this. No info on the Vegas site.

Only if you took advantage of the offer that was put out to buy 18 and get 19 free. That said, VEGAS 19 costs less, the upgrade from 18 is only $199.

ProRes has been supported since VEGAS 18. ProRes RAW works in beta form in 19, you can import it, but some features are not yet in place.

Thanks. I need to then check again. I tried importing footage and program said that format is not supported.

Specifically what link do you need, the download link for VEGAS 19? If so, I had to download the demo version as the Post 365 installer had not yet been updated to download, and the direct link to download 19 wasn't working right in my browser. Here's the link to the demo if the link posted above doesn't work for you: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/free-trials/video-editor-free-download/

Then just put in your serial number to register the demo.

The UI should have a color picker on it that lets you set your own shades of your own colors on EVERYTHING. My 2 cents. Let them make their own look. Let folks release skins for VEGAS.

Something's unclear to me, because I think that Vegas Edit and Vegas Pro used to be different products, Vegas Edit being a light version of Vegas Pro, at least that's what I understood in the past.

Now, if I buy Vegas Edit (the product or subscription), I get Vegas Pro software? So it's always full Vegas Pro?

(Because I'm thinking... I'm not sure if I have need for all the other stuff, I already have a SoundForge Pro license, and now with Vegas you only get SoundForge Audio Studio... the only thing I'm 100% sure I'll use is Vegas Pro .... on the other hand it seems like all great software for difference of 180 EUR... I may get interest in Vegas Effets ... but I guess that if I want to upgrade from Edit to Post, full license, later I'd have to pay Post full price then ?)

Cmin7669 wrote on 8/19/2021, 4:58 AM

The advertising is at best confusing and at worse misleading, I am really confused at to what I will receive. The two for one deal for Vegas Post advertising seemed to indicate that I would get the new version of everything that I had purchased with VP18, Vegas Post, Vegas Image, and sound forge Pro. So that is what I thought I would receive. The deal said "as soon as the new version of Vegas Post is released I would get the email". So far nothing, anybody else done the 2 for 1 deal and got the update?
