VST3, Do we know if V19 is compatible with VTS 3?

Is there any indication that the RTX 3000 series are supported in VP19?

fr0sty wrote on 8/18/2021, 2:04 PM

They are supported in V18, so I imagine they also work in V19.

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

Thanks, fr0sty. It helps to know there's at least a desire to fix it. Every time I've asked in the past, there's been silence. It would be good to have some kind of idea when it might happen... whether it's something in the near future (a few weeks) or a long term goal (months or years). I understand it's perhaps a secondary feature for most, but for me the audio engine is EXTREMELY important to my projects. Still not sure about upgrading, but a tiny bit more on the positive side of the fence now... thanks.

I can't give any kind of timeframe, but they've wanted to get it done for a long time now, but had other areas that were holding more people back (like format support, performance and stability, etc) that needed attention first. I think 19 is off on a very solid foot as far as all that goes now, so things look good for them to be able to start working on those other long-neglected areas.

It should be the latest version of Audio Studio. I will confirm that, but I am pretty sure that is the case.

What happened to Sound Forge Pro??

"Now, as an essential part of VEGAS Pro, SOUND FORGE Pro will greatly enhances the
audio editing and mastering capability..."

I can't believe I fell for the early "Upgrade to V18 Pro and Get V19 free" and now have to wait after the launch (maybe up to 3 days later), to actually get it? While others upgrading day of launch get it on the day of launch at a lower price? Must be a German thing?

So, misleading marketing - again! 😕 Can you trust the software, if you can't trust the company?

bvideo wrote on 8/18/2021, 3:16 PM

Upscale seems a little delicate.(NB: Upscale needs to go before Pan/Crop.)

  1. The scale parameter is locked; it sets itself based on the pan/crop
  2. So don't try to restructure pan crop after inserting upscale
  3. I tried switching the Model parameter from smooth to sharp and vegas hung
  4. Vegas doesn't seem to try to preview upscale with the preview window at "preview(auto)" (maybe that's standard for complex FX?). It's extremely downres'ed. Using preview(full) or above is ok.
  5. Upscale made crazy results for an interlaced project ("progressive" event).
  6. Had several hangs when operating upscale or previewing after closing the fx window with upscale in it.

Results are pretty good. This was on a very old project where I had used BCC Uprez before.

fr0sty wrote on 8/18/2021, 3:21 PM

Yes, I too discovered odd artifacts when upscaling interlaced video, I found it best to deinterlace it first, render it out as a prores, and then upscale it. You're not the only one who has reported that crash when switching from smooth to sharp, the team has been made aware of it. The effect is AI powered, so yeah, it's more complex and may not preview in some modes, though i'm not sure of that.

Of all the new features, this one is the roughest around the edges, but it's a very welcome feature. I love being able to upscale my 1080p slomo my cameras shoot to 4k so it (more closely) matches the native 4k video I shoot at normal speed.

Thanks Frosty. I've just signed up for Vegas 365 and have been out of the loop for a while. Now I am in the position to build or buy a new computer.

@marvin-bush - Well, I'm running the Nvidia RTX3080 Ultra. Here's it being recognized under Preferences and Driver Update in VP19:

Just purchased my upgrade. 👍 Happy to support the team.

Richvideo wrote on 8/18/2021, 4:26 PM

If you purchased Vegas 18 say in the last two months would the upgrade to 19 be free or heavily discounted?

douglas_clark wrote on 8/18/2021, 5:03 PM

My trial of Vegas Pro 19 has the help file for Vegas Pro 18. ?? That makes it tough to learn the new features.

Is there a link to the VP19 manual (pdf) somewhere? Or is that only accessible when I purchase? (waiting for the upgrade e-mail).

Thanks Grazie. Looking at a laptop with a 3070. From what I can find, I should only expect 2060 performance.

Glad to see you're up and running.

Just installed Vegas Pro 19. The software freezes and is unusable

First person to say that so far... let's find out what about your system is different than ours. Please make a thread detailing your system specs, the type of media used, windows version, and GPU driver versions. We'll see if we can get to the bottom of it for you.

Can you get the RTX30 series to work properly?
Rendering speed not much different from RTX20 series in VP18
It was obviously not running properly with a rendering speed much slower than the RX5700.

This is only a VP issue. adobe premiere pro and DaVinci
Resolve, the RTX30XX is faster than any other GPU.

By the way, I'm using RTX3080ti and it's about 1.8 times slower than RX5700. Of course, this is a test using the same video.

Has this stupid problem been improved in VP19?

Steve_Rhoden wrote on 8/18/2021, 6:05 PM

savu-savulescu, follow fr0sty's recommendation, because that's not normal.

The RTX 30xx GPUs use the same NVENC encoder as the 20xx GPUs do, so it should be roughly the same when rendering NVENC. GPU effects processing could be faster, but encoding is the same.

Shame about the new icons, V18 were much better, the new seem to have gone back to V14 in some respects and the salmon pink colours are awful (luckily you can input the V18 parameters). Cannot find how to change the sound waveform to white or another colour so it can be easily seen.

Aint that the truth. If waited until today, I would have saved $30. I'm having a hard time understanding why Magix would think I would be happy upgrading the other day, vs seeing what they're doing today. Actually kinda ticks me off.

Me, too. What with the Movie Studio 18 "Upgrade" business, well, not a good impression, to say the least.

Shame on you, Magix, and your shameful marketing.😠

Still like VEGAS, though.

PS

Got an email to say v19 was released. If I could get that email, why couldn't I get an email with my v19 serial?
