Vegas pro 19 won't start after Windows 11 update.

Hi, I was just in the middle of editing - adding an image to a track when the Vegas Stopped Working sign popped up. I shut it down and noticed a Windows 11 update was available. So thought I would update that and go back to Vegas. The update restarted my machine and I clicked on the Vegas icon to start and nothing happened. Tried again nothing happened. Decided to power off the machine, left for five minutes switched on again, clicked the icon nothing happened. I went to program files clicked on the Vegas EXE file again nothing. Tried other programs and they all open as normal. I updated to Windows 11 a couple of days ago and everything was fine. I am using Vegas Pro 19 version 458. Anyone any ideas how I can get Vegas to load.

Thanks

Paul

Hi. Panic over. Just been to look at Windows Update and saw Windows II had just completed a cumulative update but there were three Windows 11 files 'pending update', updated these files which included a reboot and everything is now working fine again. Weird. I suggest if Windows II does a cumulative update as it did with my machine, check there are no other pending files to update as once these were installed everything was back to normal. Can't understand why that would be, but back to the editing.

Cheers

Paul

@paul-priestley

"So thought I would update that and go back to Vegas."

"That was brave of you. I stopped at a rest stop on my 500 mile journey, changed my engine in the parking lot, and thought I'd go back to Vegas." said the wry old social commentator.

Thanks for updating the situation... I assume the issue should have been solved by now.. and I tag your update as solution for future reference to other users in the community.

At this moment VEGAS doesn't officially support Windows 11.

Everything still working this morning, so it seems Vegas Pro works OK with Windows II.

WTF? Can't get V19 to start. Hey Magix... fix this or give me a refund for my 19 upgrade!

@lifeinthefastlane
As you may know, we are here in a user-to-user forum where people help each other in their spare time.
If you have a complaint about the software or want a refund, contact the company that sold you the software.

lifeinthefastlane wrote on 3/9/2022, 3:37 PM

Thanks. I wasn't complaining. 😀 Just stating facts. The software doesn't start for me in Windows 11 and apparently doesn't start for others as well. This is unacceptable, isn't it? The fixes given here did not help, so I guess I'll look elsewhere.

If you already use the forum search, and the unique threads didn't help you, you need to provide more information, otherwise nothing can come of it.
But better open a separate thread.

Still problems with launching after the last update of windows 11, the problem is rather microsoft, because both VP 18 and VP 19 do not run on two computers and there is a task manager. After the end of the process, it starts normally until the next computer restart - and again the same. Unfortunately, uninstalling or installing card drivers does not help. Anyone have any idea whether to wait for the next windows update that can help?

We'll probably also need to wait for a Vegas Pro 19 update in which Vegas Pro officially supports Windows 11 - which it doesn't at the moment. Whether that will solve the problem is another question though. I've often had opening problems with Vegas Pro 19 from when I first installed Windows 11 on my laptop a few months ago.

Nonetheless, I sometimes have to use the Task Manager 'End Task' process on my Windows 10 desktop for a few non-MAGIX programs including one of Microsoft's own programs, Outlook, so I also think its a Windows problem.

Mine does this too. Often, nothing happens on the first start. If I go into Task Manager and end the Vegas process, then start it again, it works. Kind of annoying. Maybe it is a problem with Windows but either way, shouldn't Windows 11 be supported by now? It has been about 5 months...

Incase anyone is still having problems, I quite often cant get Vegas to start since having a custom new build PC and Windows 11. I find I have to go into Task Manager where Vegas shows as running, I End Task on it and then it will start up fine on the next click. I am guessing this is a Microsoft W11 fault as suggested above so hopefully they will bring out a fix. Not to much of a problem to do this through for now.
