Vegas Pro 22 Released!

@Candive I can't answer to whether Vegas has the Beat Detector transplanted from VPX or not. What I do have is a screenshot of both Vegasaur and Beat Detector on the same audio clip. Both can get you "close" and in some cases it's spot on.

The one with the markers on tap is Vegasaur Beat Detector. Vegas Beat Detector is outlined in read. One thing to note, Vegas Beat Detector is inside of the audio event. Less "clutter" than having markers, like 341 for this one audio event. I didn't do any adjusting with either, using the default settings for both.

There is also Tempo Detection, which I haven't used yet.

Do you know if Magix transplanted its beat detection module from VPX into Vegas or is this a new build?

This was a new solution created by the Vegas Team.

Candive wrote on 7/31/2024, 6:45 AM

@Reyfox @VEGASDerek thank you both for your comments. This function should prove very useful! I guess the only other thing I'm looking for is auto audio ducking.

gary-rebholz wrote on 7/31/2024, 6:46 AM

And make sure you understand what Beat Detection is doing. The results you get won't typically mark out every beat of every measure (that is, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.1, etc.) If you want that, use tempo detection and then set your Ruler to Measures and Beats. Beat Detection aims to identify "unusual" power that could indicate a useful cut point in your video. Could be a bass drop, or it could be an explosion. The tool analyzes your audio not at a given sample, but more like a range. If something regular is happening in that range, it won't get detected (so, for instance, it won't detect every kick drum beat). But if something in that range "stands out" from a detection standpoint, then it gets marked. When you understand what it's doing, it's pretty cool.

We're not done with VP22 development yet...

Still no v22 product key.

Sent a message to support this morning.

Walt-Stagner wrote on 7/31/2024, 10:38 AM

Here's this morning's reply from support:

Dear Walt,
Thank you for your message. The serial numbers for VP22 will be sent out in batches and not all at once. If you don't see an email come in by next week please reach out to us again.

@Walt-Stagner, at this point, most emails have already gone out. It seems there are some outliers that didn't go out yet, and maybe you are one. If you can wait, give it a few more days for your email to arrive. If you can't wait (and I understand if not!) then please reach out to our customer service team.

Daniel also said above, two days ago: "Everyone who bought during the weekend will receive the keys by tomorrow."

I'm not going to keep posting over and over on this (I'd much rather be typing about my experiences using the new build if I could) but I am going to make this one further comment re: activation.

It is starting to drive me a little bit nuts to have no key, but to keep getting promotional emails over the past couple days about VP22 being out, have VP19 tell me VP22 is out every time I open it, and have a previous reply on this thread reference getting keys by "hopefully next week(!)" Next week is frankly unacceptable.

I mean, guys, it's a key. Just email it.  I paid for this 4 days ago. I bet if I bought this today I would get a key today.

After reaching out to customer service last night, I also got a blank reply from them with literally no info, actually no text in it at all, whatsoever. This is like the 7th or 8th version of Vegas I have purchased, been a customer for many many years. I really need the V22 features I paid for.

@gary-rebholz

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the detailed explanation on Beat Detection and its difference to Tempo Detection (you answered my next question 🙂). Also , thanks for foreshadowing "things to come" with Vegas Pro. I'm looking forward to the continued development and program updates. Well done!

So far, Projects which were crashing during use (in project windows) or that i was forced to use the AVC legacy or that even some projects that i couldn't load anymore as juste after a play i had a freeze, are working ok and normally and better than espected in Pro 22 compared to 21.

issue i encountered are a big slow down during some launch, or a very slow "pics render" during loading V21 projects (don't know why it must re-create all the pics).
after a while the big slow down (big use of Gpu and Cpu at start) when loading a project stop (after one minute i'll tell), and for some projects, this issue is not happening.

for now i'm pretty happy to be able to work on a project that was all the time crashing and that i don't have to use the avc legacy. Couldn't test any other feature yet.

@Walt-Stagner & @jonnymomovies, when did you buy it? Was it before or during the weekend? We're currently working on the last batch of send-outs for those who bought them over the weekend.

Unfortunately, this is a manual process that takes us some time to provide the keys to everyone. 😞

Just back home from an early morning thing and my vp22 serial from the 2-for-1 deal was waiting for me. Time stamped about 2 hours ago.

@sonicvision this is a user to user forum. We all have lives. We all can get busy at times.

As for it not working for you, I personally have no solution/suggestions. You are the first to write this, so it would mean that it is something on your end. That can be anything from hardware/drivers, to hard/software installed.

I hope you get an answer. I still don't see your separate post (not something in this thread) in the forum, can you provide a link?

@sonicvision I saw your other post but it works for me & as I have no solution for you my comment 'It works for me' would've been useless to you like you say.

Perhaps add a comment with some more info to the post, project settings, MediaInfo, or even just a comment asking for help, doing that would bring the post back to the top of the forum.

@Reyfox I did, days ago. Not a single response. That fact it works for you is of no help to me. I know it works for some as I have seen in a couple of videos.

@sonicvision make sure that the issue you have is not a user error (like the issue you had with drop shadow). That other users cannot confirm your issue says enough...

Miles-Thatch wrote on 9/12/2024, 11:55 AM

If vegas 22 actually comes with audio ducking (automatic one that uses a bus or audio track as a driver) then I'm sold on upgrading from 18 to 22.

VEGASDerek wrote on 9/12/2024, 12:03 PM

@Miles-Thatch Audio ducking is something we have high on our new feature priority list. Currently it is not in VP 22, but we are definitely considering implementing this at some point. We have been trying to get a long backlog of audio features into VEGAS as we were unable to do any work in this area for several years. We do have an audio-side engineer on staff right now and he is working to get VEGAS's audio workflow back up to the level of an industry leader and restore our legacy as the strongest audio workflow in the NLE industry.
