This Trial isn't working out well for me at the moment, I've cancelled test renders that look like they're going slow & VP23 has closed without warning, I clicked Cancel, the render box goes away, VP pauses/hangs & then just shuts down 😒

This has happened every time I cancel a render.

No. I have not purchased it yet. Nor, have I tried the Trial. I downloaded the links for the 278 build and Deep Learning Modules, but currently waiting a bit. Besides, enjoying seeing all the posts about VEGAS Pro 23, good and bad, and those from people saying how "terrible" it is, and it seems it is their "first Post" on the forum.

Besides, having two full AMD systems, in signature, a third system is an original X399 w/2920x (mentioned earlier in post) that I looked up all the parts, and that "poor" system is now coming up on EIGHT (8) years Old! It does have an RTX 2070 Founders Edition (non-super), which is more of a Office use-case type computer, has been having issues with Windows 11 running correctly, a crappy MSI "BETA" firmware for Windows 11 with MSI's lack of now supporting AMD's HEDT/Workstation (TRX40/WRX80/TRX50/WRX90) platforms, and the RTX card not supporting Resizable Bar, I have to replace that system. Though, it will get a graphics card swap and be relegated to a new Home Server.

And, at the same time, as with us "All AMD" users, and AMD not providing that luscious 4:2:2 10-Bit encode/decode hardware for H.264/H.265 like nVidia, I need to get a 5070Ti or 5080 for my 3960x system. The 7960x with the 7900XT does pretty good with VP22 and my CLOG 3 footage from the R6,R7, R6MkII, though still choppy if one decides to "super scrub" the timeline. One thing is nice though, I can at least put the original media on the VP22 timeline and see video and audio, unlike the free version of DaVinci Resolve, which is audio only. Which is why I use Shutter Encoder to transcode those camera video clips to ProRes 422, so no problem in any editor I have. And that is just for VP22, not VP21 or VP20, which I do have installed on that 3960x computer.

@Chief24 Thanks, If you do install pls let me know how you get on, it'd be nice to hear other AMD users experience.

I see VP 23 as significantly faster with NVENC- I'll update my two benchmarks when I get back from a work trip. It's no longer waiting for frames with spikes and valleys.

I'd encourage others to do them for a consistent comparison between 22 and 23 as well- please see the links in my signature.

@RogerS Thanks, I see a smoother graph rather than the spikes and valleys, but myself & @edoardo-l have AMD CPU's with no integrated graphics & have super slow render speed, everyone else inc you are on Intel... I'm waiting on Yelandkeil to do a quick test render as he has an AMD Ryzen9 5950x, hopefully his results will help pin down this problem.

I'd like it if AMD users could try the benchmarks too as we have plenty of AMD entries going back years.

@RogerS The people in this post who do have AMD haven't yet installed VP23, the rest like I say have intel & say they're getting good, really good render speeds..

@Yelandkeil Thanks, I don't know how long that clip is, but you've named the render 2mins so I'm guessing the clip is 2mins long?

Render times of VP22 - 1.25mins & VP23 - 2.02min is quite a difference.. slower.

@Reyfox Hi, as you have an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X CPU, when you do upgrade to VP23 would you do a quick test render VP22 vs VP23 & post the results on here? 👍

@Reyfox Thanks, can you also just render a UHD clip a couple of minutes long with no fxs or other adjustments, just to disclude any detrimental affects added fxs or changes might cause. 👍

@Gid I'll just put some UHD clips on the timeline and see how it goes. No transitions or FX.

Did again a 3min timeline for rendering. 
Source: 10bit422AVC 4kHLG30/60p, 10bit420HEVC 4kHLG60p, 10bit422 ProRes HDR10 4k60p, 8bit goPro Protune flat color 2k60p, 8bit SDR fullHD25p. 

V22 speed: 2min29sec, 72.48fps average. 

V23 speed: 3min05sec, 58.21fps average. 
It seems if you enable "activate DX11 output mode" in the Preferences->General you get fast rendering, but no render process show in the preview window. 

Also, HDR10 rendering goes near 12fps average which is beyond the "usual" 5-6fps speed. 
And shows render process in the preview window.

I tested the same near 12 minute test clip on my AMD CPU main PC using nvenc. No spikes, 25% faster Nvenc encoding in vp23 compared to vp22.

My Intel laptop had bigger Nvenc render improvement as I have previously posted here. See my signature for specs.

Ideally @Gid make available either a simple test file or project with prepared sample footage that other users can give you direct feedback on.

@johnny-s Your results with an Nvidia gpu and an Amd cpu suggests it's more of an issue with Amd gpus rather than Ryzens.

If so it still makes sense for Gid or perhaps yourself if you also have this issue to make available a simple test file or project in a download able zip in an attempt to create some uniformity in response tests.

However I don't think u use Amd gpu?
