Where has my external preview monitor gone?

Hi Nick, I don't use MM but I just installed it and it seems to work very well here with .NET 4.6.2.

It's probably OK for simple stuff. I have very large libraries and it crashes after checking tags to filter the search results. Never had a problem before that Anniversary update. Like I say, it might not be .NET 4.6.2 but something else.

Understood. Potential nightmare. Maybe its not .NET causing the issue in your case.. Something else in the Windows 10 update perhaps? Works for Jwe.

Edit, i posted too quick. yes maybe different functionality for larger libraries.

I hope its OK to resurrect this post... I have windows 10 and have had for some time, and Vegas 13 and 14 installed. The "video preview on external monitor" used to work but now it does not, I just get a white screen. I dont know when it stopped working as I am an intermittent user. I have .net 4.6.2 so I don't know what to do now. Both v13 and 14 have the same problem. On another windows 10 laptop I have v13 and the function works fine.

Looks like I fixed it. I set a restore point, then in device manager rolled back the driver. The driver was shown as 21.21.13.6909 but I dont think that is a NVidia driver number, but it was still the same after the rollback (even after reboot). But, this fixed the white only screen on "video preview on external monitor"

The last 5 digits are the driver version, so it's 369.09. What GPU model do you have?

Thats interesting Nick. I loaded the NVIDIA control panel and the system info tells me I am now running driver version 376.53, but the windows device manager tells me I am running 21.21.13.6909. Before I rolled it back I didn't look at the NVIDIA Control Panel so I dont know what version it was then, but the ext monitor now works with this version showing the versions. I want to learn more about why my GPU isn't supported as some plugins won't work but I will post that to a different post.
I am using a GeForce GTX 660. I have attached a screenshot.

That's a strange contradiction but (clutching at straws) maybe 376.53 refers to a package of drivers, of which the key file is still version 369.09. Or maybe Nvidia forgot to update the file version of the DLL.

GTX 660 is Kepler architecture. Magix themselves had to roll back the driver for their GT 730 (also Kepler, assuming it was 64-bit version, not 128-bit version) to version 369.09 to get it to be recognized by Vegas.

Jam_One is/was running 376.33 with GTX 760, which is also Kepler.

It turns out NVidia driver 376.53 did not fix the preview on external monitor problem, still had a white screen. So after a bit more reading and research, I decided to download the v376.33 drivers from NVIDIA, and selected custom install and ticked "Clean installation". Now the preview windows works, GPU processor is enabled again in Vegas Pro and the NewBlue Titler Pro Express works again. Now I hope this doesnt cause other instabilities and windows doesnt automatically upgrade the driver. ps Windows device manager now says its version 21.21.13.7653 which relates to the previous version that was installed. go figure.
