where is the upgrade from V13?

+1 nick - if magix thinks giving people a week to get a discounted upgrade price good marketing they need a new marketing team - probably a bunch of mba's with no real world experience.

as i've written elsewhere, there's no way i would buy ANY upgrade untill i'd read extensive reviews / comments from people whose opinions i respect - and, as seems to be the case at the moment, there's very little likelihood i would consider the initial release of 14 even worth downloading. i would however take another look at the next release and would also expect to be offered a discount even then as a longtime vegas user.

I tried this starting at the http://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/ main page:

Support -> Customer Service -> Go to The Service Center -> Common questions -> Upgrade of older products -> Please click here

then selected "Vegas Pro" and entered my SCS serial . . .

Get the upgrade of you old product -> Please click here to get a special upgrade offer

After which I land on a page with a discounted price for Vegas Pro 13 . . . which is what I already have . . . so I didn't go thru with it.

My guess is that this will change to Vegas Pro 14.

Has anybody tried and see if they get 14 instead of 13?

Working here (getting 14), but don't want it, for an upgrade the price is to insane

+1 ushere

Kind of wierd but I just found Vegas upgrades for cheaper on Videoguys.  You can get Vegas Pro for 236.55 with an additional 5% off when you use a coupon code.  Does not say anything about the price expiring on September 27, 2016.  I'm all for helping the parent company by buying directly but this is a strange pricing strategy especially when making the cutomer feel like they have one week to decide.  http://www.videoguys.com/catalog/product/view/id/6241/s/magix-vegas-pro-14-upgrade-from-any-version/category/12/

With the mess the upgrade letters are in, I'd expect Magix to extend the expiration date of the upgrade offer. Am I alone in this?

Definitely not Tom. I didn't get notice of the "buy 13 now and get 14 free when it's released" offer until well after I had already used another poster's link to buy it. I've been checking email and spam folders daily but still nothing. If I don't get anything before Sept. 27, I'll be a very unhappy Vegas user :(

I've never received an upgrade offer. TBH, I'm underwhelmed by V14 anyways. Looks like a bug fix of V13, and nothing else there to attract me personally. After waiting patiently for the release, it's a let down. With the lack of GPU support the biggest let down of all. I really do hesitate to go on a steep learning curve, but I think it's the best way to errrrmmm....RESOLVE things in the end. ('scuse the pun LOL). I may come back to vegas at some time...never say never, but my current version of Vegas will in future, be my 'fall back', not my main editor. Time to stop banging my head on the wall.

marc-s wrote on 9/22/2016, 1:12 PM

Yeah I find the lack of GPU support frustrating as well.  My Premiere CS6 still plays video better.  I do find Vegas the best multi cam for my workflow but it really lags compared to other editing programs and the level of development in Resolve is amazing.  Hopefully Vegas will release some extras before asking us to pay for another version upgrade as there is very little in this one other than bug fixes and some cool plugins.

I'm now seeing Magix 14 upgrades on 3rd-party vendor sites like sharbor.com:

Pretty steep if you ask me, coming from Vegas Pro 13.  Vegas Pro 14 doesn't fix any bugs or add new features that I care about.  At these prices, I'm going to pass.

Magix, if you're listening, $150 is the magic number to get me to upgrade now from Vegas Pro 13 Edit.  Otherwise I'm waiting until I actually need something that Vegas Pro 14 does, or until Vegas Pro 15.  So get your limited-time promotion going. You have my Sony Vegas Pro 13 registration info, and I'm subscribed to your newsletter.  We're all waiting.

Jeff_Main wrote on 9/22/2016, 2:32 PM

I like the $150 pricepoint better myself. Just not enough new I can use to justify more than that. Basially bug fixes for $200. I did see a few new transitions I didn't have also. Still pricy for that.

I just got the Net Notify Upgrade offer:

which sends me to:

That seems to be the "introductory" pricing, $249 for Vegas Pro  (it does not even check for existing serial). At that price I will just wait.

I have the full Vegas Suite 13 I bought a while back and downloaded to install on a NEW machine.  I have not received any info on Version 14 which I was going to upgrade to.  I am lost on this whole move to Magix etc and upgrades.  NOTE: I have not installed my VERSION 13 as I am finishing the building of my new machine.  It does not show up on my software account since I have not installed it.  So I am not sure how this upgrade from Vers 13 to Ver 14 is supposed to work.  I assume I will received then notice from Magix?  I have used VV since Vers. 2.

According to GaryR they are sending announcement in increments, probably to avoid overloading the servers.

So a few months ago magic had "buy pro 13 for 200 and get pro 14 for free". Now current pro 13 owners still pay $199?

If i had bought it back in august, i'd now have 2 pro 13 licenses and a free upgrade to 14. Instead now i will  have a 13 license and a 14 license.

how about giving a break to current pro 13 owners

No. $249 for Pro ($50 more than the July offer) and $199 for Edit.

marc-s wrote on 10/1/2016, 9:53 PM

That is strange.  Magix is creating a lot of unneccesary bad will among loyal Vegas customers.

To folks who have used version 14, how are GPU aided video rendering speeds compared to Vegas Pro 13?  I had been satisfied  with how fast version 12 rendered HD video files but ran into a wall when I upgraded to a substantially better video card than I had been using.  I upgraded to 13 and GPU aided rendering speeds actually got worse.  Not horrible, but noticably slower.  I guess that was one of the first signs that Sony had abandoned Vegas Pro.  I want to upgrade to 14, but once burned...

You can download the trial and see for yourself but nothing has changed. GPU render options are disabled by default now and need to be enabled on the internal tab to make it work.

A couple of weeks ago when I opened Vegas 13, there was an upgrade offer that was good for three days! I complained to Magix via their Facebook page and they said there would be another opportunity to upgrade at the special pricing. I opened Vegas 13 again last week and the upgrade pop-up came up again saying the upgrade price would be extended to October 16. Today is October 16 and I went to upgrade my software and there is no option anywhere on the Magix site to upgrade at the special price. I also NEVER received an email from Magix with upgrade information. I had gotten emails from Sony alerting me to the change in ownership, but Magix never once contacted me about an upgrade. This whole change in ownership has been a complete flustercluck. I've used this software since it was Sonic Foundry and have never had an issue with upgrading it. This may be the first time I've considered using something else if they don't make good on the upgrade offer.
