Basic Color Correction and Rendering in Vegas Pro 21 (June 2024)
Given all the changes in Vegas, I decided to do an updated video on basic color correction and rendering. This tutorial gives basic tips, tricks, and provides an overview of the overall workflow. Vegas Pro 21 is perhaps the best Vegas yet and has come so far in a relatively short time!!

RE: Understanding Confusing Compositing in Vegas Pro
thanks for making the explanation vids. Yes, indeed, the compositing mode called "multiply" is a brain twister. However, I specifically have no need to composite 2 layers that blend the pixel colors into a new color... I can't think of a scenario where I need that. If I were to do that, I imagine I would ruin the video image because the colors would be messed up and unnatural. But I would, on the

HDR Grading of 6K 50p BRAW Footage in Vegas Pro 20 (ENGLISH)
Dear all, After a long time I have here a new tutorial for you. And on a topic that I really enjoy! After I got myself an absolutely great HDR-capable OLED laptop, I thought that it would be of particular interest for many to get to know the workflow I use to grade 6K 50p BRAW footage to HDR here. And surprisingly, this now works quite well on this high-end laptop, and the device still inspires

With b 300, a lot of bugs have been resolved, that had existed at the time of writting this tutorial. I recommend to do most of the color correction in the decoder windows with b 300, since the color grading portal brings down the performance significantly. Hopefully, this will be corrected, since it is hard to avoid the RL color wheels really, for example to adjust the peak luminance. But do

@karma17, nice video! I'm still very new to Vegas Pro, having come over from being a long time user of Ulead's/Corel's VideoStudio, so this is a great introduction for me!! It would have been a nice extra to see the "before and after color correction " in the final part of your video where you show the final render. But either way, great information; keep making tutorials! Ron

NEW! Video Levels Tool for Movie Studio Platinum (and Vegas Pro!)
This is a new free tool for Movie Studio Platinum (Vegas Pro 14 project here) that allows the editor to make custom output level decisions without the need for video scopes. In some cases, it gives richer colors and range than using the output Studio RGB filter, which is foolproof but conservative. This project reflects a distillation of ideas from john_dennis, Marco., Nick Hope, musicvid,

Monitor Calibration on the Cheap with Spyder2 Pro
Spyder2 Colorimeters can now be found for $20-40 on eBay, Craigslist, and Thrift Stores. Although not indexed for the latest generation of LCD displays, they are quite usable with a few tweaks for Windows 10 display graphics. A few of the reasons to have a calibrated display include: Screen / Printer / Scanner matching Grading using 3D LUTS, which are shareable between your display and

Color Isolation / Splash Effect in Vegas Pro
This is a quick tutorial on how to isolate a color against black and white. This effect relies on the secondary color corrector in Vegas Pro and utilizes the show mask feature to get the best possible color isolation. This effect was popularized in movies such as Sin City and Schindler's List and is relatively easy to do.

LUT Filter in Track Level - Fade Issues & Solutions
When I was working with new native LUT filter effect placed in Track level of Vegas Pro 15, I found a little color problem on the fading to the 'blank' part of image, where the color goes 'wrong' (White Flash-alike). The solution to this is to add the Envelope - Compositing Level of Track Level, or, change Pixel Format from 8-bit to 32-bit Video Level.     (also posted in forum

At least I add here a english summary, for all who do not speak German: Workflow: - Import your BRAW files. - Enable HDR10 - so a typical ACES transformation to PQ 1000 nits. - Adjust the resolution to the original size of the BRAW clips - so I adjust them to 6K. Happens automatically, if you drop the first clip in the timeline. - Frame rate - for my 6K Pro 50p footage, I choose 25p on my laptop.

RE: Magix Vegas Pro 14 VideoFX Guide
Have you made any updates to this? This is a very helpful because this type of organizational chart helps you to figure out which effects might be helpful to solve a certain problem versus just looking at the whole list of 65 effects and not knowing what to do. In other words, it is like have a mechanic's tool box with everything in its place versus just having a box with a bunch of tools thrown

@Musicvid No. Does it have calibration features? I've pulled back from doing color in Resolve since I struggled to make accurate black and white point corrections with it. I'm back to fiddly VEGAS Color Curves.

RE: Monitor Calibration on the Cheap with Spyder2 Pro
I have a AMD Radeon VEGAS64 GPU, not Intel graphics on this machine. Believe it or not, it doesn't have a straightforward RGB channel mixing control. This is what it provides: I left that at those neutral settings. I tweaked the TV settings using my remote control to get in the ballpark. The last time I calibrated, on the "Interactive display adjustment - Whitepoint / White level" step, I'm
