Magix, will there be an upgrade offer?

thanks for the info Nick. This really has been as clear as mud! ;)

henry-williams wrote on 9/22/2016, 4:17 AM

Yep, looks like we get $50 off. So that's still $100 more than the offer we were told not to take as existing users of 13

Martin L wrote on 9/22/2016, 4:21 AM

Thanks Nick! I checked it out and it gives me the offer $299 for the Suite. Now, is that it? Or will there be another offer? I haven't heard anything from Magix and nothing has popped up within Vegas even though I use it daily.

Also before I upgrade, will my existing plugins from SVP13 Suite (NewBlue, HitFilm, Boris Continuum etc) work in v14?

henry-williams wrote on 9/22/2016, 4:22 AM

it's also saying that you're purchasing 13, rather than 14. Since the existing serial number is for 13 this seems bizzare

Oh, yeah, it does! I didn't see that at first. So what are we purchasing really? :)

I have literally no idea. Going to go back to editing a concert on 13 till they sort this mess out! ;)

It seems to me Magix released v14 and then went on vacation. There is no communication whatsoever from them. We hear about time limited special upgrade offers and start to panic. But no clarification from Magix. How hard can it be to just write a clarification message here in the forum?

henry-williams wrote on 9/22/2016, 4:29 AM

they are communicating on facebook but it's basically a copy/paste response to wait

When I use https://support2.magix.com/customer/vegas/upgrade and enter my valid serial number for Vegas Pro 13, I am only being offered Vegas Pro 13 again - not Vegas Pro 14.

It is obviously an error that should be fixed immediately - can't imagine it would be too difficult either to remedy, which makes the whole situation quite unbelievable.

I am also wondering why it is so difficult for Magix to not include a UPGRADE button next to the BUY NOW button. It would clean up a lot of this mess so quickly.

I am giving Magix the benefit of doubt and will patiently wait until Monday 26th September 2016, to see if I ever receive my first email from them. If I never receive any email about Vegas Pro 14 being released, I will know at last that I and many others who do not live in the USA, have been fed lies and BS for the last couple of months. Very disappointed so far. I wanted this to succeed, but losing faith rapidly. There is only so much that people will tolerate before abandoning ship. I'm not going to waste any more energy with this, so will retire to the sideline.

Support for UK customers does seem to have been rather lacking!

I think you're looking at the price for an upgrade to the Suite at $299. I assume the $199 offer that was made was for Edit or Pro, not the Suite.

henry-williams wrote on 9/22/2016, 4:54 AM

the original $199 offer was for the 14 suite sadly. At  least I think it was! Concrete info in short supply as you can see! ;)

I can't help but feel that there is a vibrant discussion taking place within Magix management as to what the price of upgrading to VP14 will be for existing Vegas Pro customers.  If they don't sort it out soon, their marketing campaign for V14 will likely be of most benefit to their competitors.

With so much goodwill to Magix over the last few months, Magix now seem to be doing their best to alienate their existing and inherited VP customer base.  Unfortunately for us, their VP14 launch marketing campagn is turning out to be a disaster.

I thought the $199 offer was for Vegas Pro not the Suite. It included a free upgrade to VP14. When I bought the Vegas Pro 12 Suite there didn't seem to be an upgrade to the VP13 Suite at the time so I went back to VP13. When Magix does eventually email us about the upgrade I hope they have a VP13 to VP14 Suite offer as well. If they do I might consider it.

@Dr Zen

I have the same thing with the newsletter, like many knew nothing about the summer offer while i registered on MAGIX site in June, not one newsletter either still about VEGAS or any, i find out about that summer offer by accident on their Facebook page, made me mad, then i complained about it on their Facebook about the lack of information to their customers, in the beginning i looked at both sides, as they could be overwhelmed of the VEGAS users, questions, etc. but no more, this is a very bad move of them i feel.

For you:

https://support2.magix.com/customer/en/vegas/form

I did get yesterday a response with the upgrade offers, but after reading a lot of Bugs and no updated GPU support it is not worth it, and then the so-called offer in my mail is not an upgrade offer, the offer is great for new customers i agree, but why must existing VP13 users pay $350 again (oh ye $50 off thru some link i read somewhere), shameless sorry, a UPGRADE shouldn't be the same price as an OFFER and not a few bucks less either. And not to mention the valid till 27 September too, what a way to welcome VEGAS users, jeez.

Overall.. disappointed too for sure, sorry for the burst out, normally i don't type this much,

i am glad VEGAS is alive thanks to MAGIX but this way of communication and threaten existing users  and the way they are marketing this all makes me doubt and go to the side line same as you and stay at VP13.

+1 Dexcon

Their Twitter feed has confirmed the upgrade is "only via their newsletter and within the indicated time frame." Guess that's it then. Too busy to switch right now but will regretfully decide between davinci and premiere over Christmas.

Just read it to...what a blunder at marketing, so many negative threads and questions about users waiting for newsletters and key's, and not ONE reaction of MAGIX themselves, its almost laughable all

Davinci Resolve is a great and free software. Too bad that my laptop has a small screen resolution. Resolve requests 1920x1080 and higher.

Might I suggest that we all contact Magix Support about the problems with their upgrade offer or lack thereof. I just sent them questions about the length of the special offer and about the weird result that comes from using their their upgrade your software page (https://support2.magix.com/customer/vegas/upgrade) where if you have Vegas 13, you're offered Vegas 13 as an upgrade. Same thing happens if you try to upgrade Sound Forge Pro 11 (the current version). It brings up Sound Forge Pro 11 as the upgrade.

You might want to check the Videoguys website.  You can get the Vegas Pro upgrade for less that Magix is offering and there is no time limit listed.   http://www.videoguys.com/catalog/product/view/id/6241/s/magix-vegas-pro-14-upgrade-from-any-version/category/12/

prairiedogpics wrote on 9/22/2016, 1:27 PM

Thanks, marc-s, but videoguys' price is only $13 cheaper than the (lousy) upgrade offer by Magix, and it doesn't look like Mercalli is bundled with it.

ben-a wrote on 9/22/2016, 1:34 PM

VideoGuys has all three versions for sale. Pro Edit and Pro are slightly discounted and Pro Suite is slightly more expensive. Upgrade price for Pro is the same as the price for the non-upgrade version.

http://www.videoguys.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=magix+vegas+pro+14

I've (we've collectively) probably spent too much time on trying to figure this out and I'm just going to wait for Magix to respond (or not).

marc-s wrote on 9/22/2016, 1:37 PM

Actually if you click on the "included" tab it says:

VEGAS Pro 14 software

DVD Architect software

proDAD Mercalli V4

NewBlueFX Titler Pro Express

You can also get another %5 off by using the coupon code listed at the top of the page.  I'm not trying to send everyone to Videoguys but I am pointing out the fact that Magix is charging more for their own product during a supposed limited deal rollout.

@quite possibly! Feels like we've been playing an ARG game ;)
