Phantom 4 Pro Footage slow in Vegas 14/15

sean-nelson wrote on 9/4/2017, 5:32 PM

In Vegas 14 it was slow, now on 15 it is slow and this is after proxying the footage. Anyone having the same issue?

Details:

Footage: 4k 60p

PC: Windows 7, I7 3930K, SSD Drives, 48GB DDR3 RAM. Nvidia Geforce 980

Another question: Is the new Vegas causing crashes for Nvidia GPU acceleration like 14?

Is there anyway of turning up the proxy quality?

What format are your proxies? If they're the ones generated by Vegas then they'll be MXF, but if they're AVC then look here.

There is recent development in this area and the current advice for VP15 is to install the latest drivers for your graphics card.

Is there anyway of turning up the proxy quality?

I don't think so unless you use a 3rd party script or app to do it. As far as I know, the various extensions that did it (GearShift, Proxy Stream, Proxy Flow) no longer work in VP14/15, which leaves us with Vegasaur.

Before using proxies, I would try to reduce the project setting to 1920x1080 59.94. On my i7-6700k system the P4pro UHDp60 footage runs only with a maximum of ~55fps when using a UHD project setting and in full framerate in the FHD project.

My Mavic Pro footage suffers the same problem, even I used 2.5K 25P MP4 to edit, and of course I did try the proxy. I don't think that would be any wrong setting in preview window, the same footage in Premiere CC2015 play very smooth even in higher quality, Magix may improve their preview engine in Vegas Pro at the future.

To improve the preview, you should not change the framerate and if you change the resolution it should be an even factor 1/2.0.

Very interesting. I have an Autel X Star Premium, much like a DJI Phantom 3 or 4. It takes 4K in mp4 or mov wrappers. Both are very smooth in Vegas Pro 13 on my i7-5960 with AMD R9 290x.

But sean-nelson and I we are talking about the Phantom 4 pro with UHDp60 footage.
